Injury Updates for Top Fantasy Football RBs
Austin Ekeler, RB, Los Angeles Chargers
Even with Austin Ekeler logging limited practices this week, he has been listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Raiders. Doubtful tags rarely result in a player suiting up, so the expectation should be that he will be inactive. Once again, Joshua Kelley will be the Chargers’ RB1. Isaiah Spiller might also get a few snaps.
Kareem Hunt, RB, Cleveland Browns
After a missed practice on Wednesday due to a ribs and groin issue, Kareem Hunt logged limited practices on Thursday and Friday. Hunt should be good to go for Sunday. Look for him to be the RB2 behind Jerome Ford.
Saquon Barkley, RB, New York Giants
The week started rough, with Saquon Barkley missing practice on Tuesday, but he managed to practice in a limited fashion on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday, the Giants revealed that Barkley will be listed as doubtful and a game-time decision on Monday.
More Positional Injury Reports: QB | WR
This is a tough situation for fantasy managers. If Barkley plays, you want him in your lineup. However, unless you have another MNF RB or flex option, can you risk it? Make sure you have a pivot option available if he can’t go, even if you have to go waiver wire hunting ahead of Sunday’s kickoffs — Matt Breida will be the backup once again.
Salvon Ahmed, RB, Miami Dolphins
After dealing with a groin issue all week, Salvon Ahmed has been limited in practice all week. He is listed as questionable for Sunday, but with the success of Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane, Miami doesn’t look like they need to hurry Ahmed back.
Justice Hill, RB, Baltimore Ravens
Justice Hill has been progressing through the week at practice, finishing as a limited participant on Thursday to a full participant on Friday. Hill looks to be available for the game against Cleveland on Sunday. If something goes wrong with Hill, monitor Gus Edwards’ status as well. However, both are tough starts against a stout Cleveland defense.
Gus Edwards, RB, Baltimore Ravens
It looks like Gus Edwards has progressed through the concussion protocol, as he practiced for Baltimore on Friday. He looks to be on the field against Cleveland this week.
Miles Sanders, RB, Carolina Panthers
Miles Sanders is fighting the same groin injury that bothered him during training camp. After practicing on Wednesday and Thursday, Sanders was downgraded and did not practice on Friday. However, the tone from Frank Reich was one of optimism that Sanders would be on the field in Week 5.
