Fantasy Week 9 QB Start/Sit: How Should You Handle Dak Prescott and Jordan Love?

Looking ahead to Week 9, which QBs should be in line to start for fantasy football managers, and who should be considered as a sit?

For those of you who roster only stud quarterbacks in one-QB leagues, the return of bye weeks plus a multitude of injuries at the position can put you in a tough spot to make roster decisions.

Well, for those of you without Jared Goff, Brock Purdy, or Trevor Lawrence this week, here are some of my start/sit options at the QB position for Week 9 of fantasy football action.

Which QBs Should You Start in Fantasy This Week?

    Dak Prescott, QB, Dallas Cowboys

Sometimes a bye week can do wonders for a struggling offensive unit.

Dak Prescott exploded for 304 yards and four scores through the air against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 8. Does this mean Prescott is firmly back in the QB1 conversation?

Not quite. But his matchup against a Philadelphia Eagles defense that just gave up 397 yards and four scores to Washington Commanders QB Sam Howell feels like a decent spot to stream the Cowboys’ signal-caller in your fantasy lineup.

Which QBs Should You Sit in Fantasy This Week?

Jordan Love, QB, Green Bay Packers

After an encouraging start to the 2023 season, Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers’ offense has cooled off — dare I say struggled — considerably over the last four games.

Love’s fantasy lines haven’t been terrible in all of these games, but the offense is consistently struggling to put up points in the early portion of games. Some of his fantasy production has come in garbage time with the team trailing by multiple scores in the second half because of the Packers’ inability to score points in the first half.

Love has failed to truly capitalize on the favorable fantasy matchups against the Raiders, Broncos, and Vikings over the last three weeks, which gives me no confidence he will enjoy a bounce-back game against the Rams in Week 9.

Did you know that we have a Start/Sit Optimizer here at Pro Football Network?! It’s completely free to use and it allows you to enter in up to six players to find the best option to plug into your starting lineup!

It also allows us to see the most popular trending searches, which we’ve jotted some of them down here to help provide some clarity on.

Should You Start Dak Prescott or Derek Carr?

Derek Carr has quietly strung together four straight fantasy performances of 18+ fantasy points. A big reason why is his pairing with a dynamic pass-catching specialist like Alvin Kamara. Carr still isn’t quite on the same page with top receiver Chris Olave yet, but the arrow seems to be pointing in the right direction.

Speaking of moving in the right direction, Prescott had his best game of the 2023 season in Week 8 with a 36-point fantasy outing against the Rams. On paper, his matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles is actually the better option. While Carr is probably the safer option, I’m willing to roll the dice with Prescott to see if he can build off of his best performance of the season from last week.

Should You Start Sam Howell or Jordan Love?

I detailed my concerns with Love and the Packers’ offense feeling completely out of sorts above. Needless to say, Love is tough to trust in your starting lineup at the moment. Sure, he is producing fantasy points with a negative game script, but that is dangerous place to live.

Sam Howell has been productive and played well against a talented Eagles defense this week. I will roll with the hot hand of Howell this week.
