Fantasy Football WR Week 7 Trade Targets: Buy Low, Sell High Players Include Chris Olave, Puka Nacua, and Amari Cooper

We are now in the middle stages of the fantasy football season. Player values have mostly crystalized. Draft-day cost has given way to in-season performance, as we now have a larger sample size of what these players have done.

Unraveling all that we saw in Week 6 and translating it into Week 7 WR trade targets is where fantasy managers can differentiate themselves. To help you get your head around it all, here are our thoughts on some WRs to buy low or sell high entering Week 7.

Which WRs Should You Trade for in Fantasy Football?

Katz’s Other Week 7 Trade Targets: QB | RB | TE

    Chris Olave, New Orleans Saints

It may not be exactly fair to call Chris Olave a buy-low. He just caught seven passes for 96 yards and has now scored at least 14 fantasy points in four of six games this season.

The reason I am willing to call Olave a buy is because he hasn’t really taken off yet. Olave has just one touchdown on the season. He’s yet to score 20 fantasy points in a game. The spike weeks are coming. If you can buy Olave at par value, it’s worth doing, knowing he should be better going forward.

    Puka Nacua, Los Angeles Rams

After five straight weeks of excellent production, Puka Nacua finally put up a dud. He did so in a game where Cooper Kupp reminded everyone just who he is. It’s possible Nacua’s fantasy managers panic and think the dream is over.

It’s not. But don’t tell them that. Instead, try and trade for Nacua, who I believe will remain on the WR1/2 border for the remainder of the season.

Which WRs Should You Trade Away in Fantasy Football?

    Courtland Sutton, Denver Broncos

I don’t know if you can sell Courtland Sutton high. People have seen Russell Wilson play football. They likely don’t want to invest in this offense. But maybe someone looks at Sutton’s game log, sees double-digit fantasy points in all but one game, and views him as a solid WR2. He is not.

Courtland Sutton (14) runs with the ball against the Miami Dolphins in the third quarter at Hard Rock Stadium.
Sep 24, 2023; Miami Gardens, Florida, USA; Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton (14) runs with the ball against the Miami Dolphins in the third quarter at Hard Rock Stadium.

Sutton has survived exclusively on touchdowns. He’s scored four this season. Touchdowns can skew the perception of a player. If someone out there thinks Sutton is a weekly WR3 because of his touchdowns, perhaps you can sell him for a player who is actually startable on a weekly basis.

    Amari Cooper, Cleveland Browns

I was fading Amari Cooper hard against the 49ers with PJ Walker starting. It turned out to be a good call with a bad result. Cooper only caught four passes, but he amassed 108 yards.

I am not optimistic about this offense when Deshaun Watson returns. Cooper is not a screaming sell. This is more if someone values him as a mid-to-high WR2. I see him more as a WR3.

Should You Trade Amari Cooper for Michael Pittman Jr.?

I definitely feel like I am disrespecting Amari Cooper a little bit. He’s scored 14.8 fantasy points or more in three of his five games played. The other two were colossal duds, but most plays have games like that mixed in.

Michael Pittman Jr. has one similar dud but otherwise has hit 10 fantasy points in every game this season. What’s most appealing about Pittman is the elite target share. He is the alpha WR1, and we are seeing the guy we thought he’d be last season. It’s amazing what improved QB play can do.

Right now, I am not sure who most fantasy managers would value higher. I think it would be Cooper. If that’s the case, and you can sell Cooper for Pittman and another piece, that’s a deal I would make.

Should You Trade DJ Moore for Puka Nacua?

I had DJ Moore as a sell-high option the week after his 200-yard performance. Moore is undoubtedly a talented receiver, but his value was never going to be higher. Hopefully, you already sold him as a WR1 because he will not be one for the rest of the season.

Things are about to go from bad to worse for Moore. Justin Fields has a dislocated thumb. He is not going to play in Week 7, and who knows how much longer he might be out. I can’t say I’m too excited about Tyson Bagent.

As for Puka Nacua, he is coming off his worst game of the season. It was also a game where Matthew Stafford attempted a season-low 24 passes, and Nacua dropped a touchdown.

Before Week 6, I valued Nacua higher than Moore. After Week 6, nothing has changed. If you can trade Moore and get Nacua, do it.
