Tate’s Fantasy Football Updated TE Rest-of-Season Rankings Week 16: Where Do Sam LaPorta, Trey McBride, and David Njoku Land?

    Published on

As the fantasy playoffs continue, fantasy managers need to know who they can rely on. Here are the latest TE rest-of-season rankings to guide you.

The tight end position in fantasy football is one of the most fluid due to how just one or two big fantasy performances can inflate a player’s numbers into the top 10 at the position, which makes it the trickiest position to determine a consistent and reliable way to rank these players.

That being said, there are a handful of tight ends trending in the right direction in recent weeks. Let’s take a closer look at which ones are skyrocketing up my rest-of-season rankings while we’re in the thick of the fantasy football playoffs.

Fantasy Football TE Risers After Week 15

    Trey McBride, Arizona Cardinals

Trey McBride has become nothing short of a PPR machine since Kyler Murray took over under center. Since Week 10, he’s the TE1 in points per game in PPR formats at 17.3, which is four points higher than Travis Kelce.

Not even a tough matchup against a stingy San Francisco 49ers defense could slow him down, catching 10 passes for 102 yards while missing a few additional snaps after getting briefly banged up in the contest.

McBride is arguably the best option at the TE position in all of fantasy football right now.

    Sam LaPorta, Detroit Lions

Rookie Sam LaPorta is starting to flirt with historic production at the tight end position with his 71 receptions for 758 yards and nine scores through the first 14 games of his NFL career.

LaPorta is excelling in beating man coverage and contested-catch situations, and has been a problem to get to the ground for defensive backs all season long — breaking nine tackles while ranking inside the top 10 tight ends in both yards after the catch and yards after contact.

LaPorta’s role in this high-powered offense continues to offer a reliable floor with one of the highest fantasy ceilings at the position for the rest of the season.
