Fantasy Football TE Week 8 Trade Targets: Buy Low, Sell High Players Include Kyle Pitts and Jake Ferguson

The TE position remains the weakest one in fantasy football. Which tight ends, if any, should fantasy managers trade for or away ahead of Week 8?

The TE position remains the weakest in fantasy football. That makes trading for tight ends exceedingly difficult. Unraveling all that we saw in Week 6 and translating it into Week 8 TE trade targets is where fantasy managers can differentiate themselves.

To help you get your head around it all, here are our thoughts on some tight ends to buy low or sell high entering Week 8.

Which TEs Should You Trade for in Fantasy Football?

    Jake Ferguson, TE, Dallas Cowboys

It’s strange calling a guy who didn’t play football the past week a buy low, but the tight end position is a wasteland. Coming off a complete dud, and with the Dallas Cowboys on bye, Jake Ferguson might have even been dropped in leagues. Even if he wasn’t, I can’t imagine fantasy managers are clinging to Ferguson.

The Cowboys still have a potent offense, and Ferguson’s role is as their TE1. Better days are ahead. You should be able to buy him for next to nothing.

Which TEs Should You Trade Away in Fantasy Football?

    Kyle Pitts, TE, Atlanta Falcons

This spot is essentially reserved for Kyle Pitts every week. You’re probably sick of reading his name, but if you take a look at the list of tight ends, who else could you reasonably get any value for?

Pitts followed up his consecutive 14+ point efforts with a respectable 7.7 points. However, he only saw four targets.

Pitts is still splitting the role with Jonnu Smith, with Smith once again narrowly edging him out in snaps. Most importantly, he still possesses the name value to get something for him. He’s the best option as a sell at the tight end position.

Should You Trade Darren Waller for Logan Thomas?

For all of the criticism levied at Darren Waller by fantasy managers who spent a fifth or sixth-round pick on him, he’s been fine. Waller is averaging 11.3 fantasy points per game. He’s currently the TE5. Logan Thomas is at 9.5 ppg. He’s the TE12.

The concern for Waller is that his recent boost in production has come with Tyrod Taylor under center. It’s pretty clear Taylor is just better than Daniel Jones at distributing the ball to the New York Giants’ best pass catcher.

Unfortunately, Jones is going to get his job back when healthy. The hope for Waller’s managers is that Jones either figures out how to throw the ball to Waller or gets benched due to poor play.

Thomas doesn’t have to worry about his QB situation. Slingin’ Sam Howell has had no trouble finding his bulky TE. But outside of one smash game against the Chicago Bears, Thomas hasn’t really done much.

Thomas is fine as a back-end TE1 for fantasy teams. He’s a viable starter, but he lacks the talent or the upside that Waller has. If you have Waller, there’s no reason to move him for a package that includes Thomas.

Should You Trade Zach Ertz for Taysom Hill?

So far, Zach Ertz has been the more productive fantasy tight end. However, more recently, Taysom Hill has come on strong.

After failing to top 3.22 fantasy points in four of his first five games, Hill has gone over 12 in each of his last two. He’s benefited from being used more like an actual tight end for the first time in his career.

Meanwhile, Ertz’s role continues to diminish. He is a low aDOT guy with minimal touchdown upside and a vastly more talented sophomore breathing down his neck. It feels inevitable that Trey McBride will take over as the Cardinals’ TE1. If you can move Ertz to get Hill, which is probably more of a waiver wire move than a trade, do it.
