Fantasy Football TE Week 10 Trade Targets: Buy Low, Sell High Players Include Travis Kelce and Cole Kmet

Tight end remains the weakest position in fantasy football. Which TEs, if any, should fantasy managers trade for or away ahead of Week 10?

The TE position remains the weakest in fantasy football. That makes trading for tight ends exceedingly difficult. Unraveling all that we saw in Week 9 and translating it into Week 10 TE trade targets is where fantasy managers can differentiate themselves.

To help you get your head around it all, here are our thoughts on some tight ends to buy low or sell high entering Week 10.

Which TEs Should You Trade for in Fantasy Football?

    Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs

Is it possible to buy low on Travis Kelce? Probably not. But buying at par value is just fine, too.

Kelce has disappointed fantasy managers for two straight weeks now. This past game was one of the worst of his career. It appears Kelce really does need Taylor Swift at games. This is the hard-hitting analysis you come here for, I know.

On a more serious note, Kelce’s last two games have been 11.8 and 4.4 fantasy points. Now, he’s on his bye. Perhaps his manager needs a win and can’t afford to lose Kelce for this week. Now is the time to see if you can poach Kelce for the stretch run.

Which TEs Should You Trade Away in Fantasy Football?

    Cole Kmet, Chicago Bears

Over the past two weeks, Cole Kmet has scored 17.9 and 23.5 fantasy points. Anyone who started him probably thinks they have an every-week TE1. How quickly we forget the previous two weeks when Kmet scored 2.9 and 0.0 fantasy points.

Kmet remains a volatile option. I wouldn’t expect anyone to pay a premium to acquire him, but perhaps there is someone out there in your league who is desperate for a tight end.

Should You Trade Dalton Kincaid for Travis Kelce?

Believe it or not, I actually do think there is a scenario in which you could package Dalton Kincaid with another piece to acquire Kelce. Fantasy managers love the shiny new toy. Right now, that’s Kincaid.

Since taking over the primary TE role for the Bills with Dawson Knox injured, Knox has scored at least 15.5 fantasy points in every game. That’s three straight weeks. Those are borderline WR1 numbers from a tight end.

Meanwhile, Kelce is coming off back-to-back duds and is now on his bye. Last week, Kelce was the worst possible tight end fantasy managers could have started (among tight ends realistically being started).

Taking all that into consideration, Kelce remains in a class of his own at tight end. I don’t expect a discount in a trade. But Kincaid is firmly in my top five tight ends for the rest of the season. If you can turn Kincaid into Kelce by adding a player you don’t necessarily need, you should absolutely do that.

Should You Trade Cole Kmet for Evan Engram?

Given that Kmet is in the sell-high section, you probably know where this is headed. I’m not taking anything away from how well Kmet has been playing. But he’s still very Jekyll and Hyde.

Evan Engram has been one of the most consistent performers at a position with seldom few of them. He’s seen at least seven targets in every game since Week 2.

There is always recency bias at play in fantasy. Out of sight, out of mind. And Engram has been out of sight for two weeks with the Jaguars on bye. Perhaps his fantasy manager has forgotten how solid he is.

Engram has 51 catches for 434 yards but hasn’t scored. Kmet has five touchdowns on the season despite only 374 yards. That is just random variance. The touchdowns are coming for Engram. If you can trade for him now, do it.
