It’s always difficult to value the quarterback position properly in fantasy football for trading purposes. Fourteen weeks into the season, values have shifted dramatically. Unraveling all that we saw in Week 13 and translating it into Week 14 QB trade targets is where fantasy managers can differentiate themselves.
To help you get your head around it all, here are our thoughts on some QBs to buy low or sell high entering Week 14.
Which QBs Should You Trade for in Fantasy Football?
Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers
It’s been surprisingly straightforward to predict Justin Herbert’s performance. He struggles against good pass defenses and excels in games where the Los Angeles Chargers have to throw. His disappointing efforts against the Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots don’t come as a shock.

At this point, trading for players — if you can still do it — should be directed at specific weeks and matchups. In the fantasy playoffs, Herbert gets the Las Vegas Raiders, Buffalo Bills, and Denver Broncos. I don’t love the Week 17 matchup, but Herbert is in a prime position to get you to the championship.
Which QBs Should You Trade Away in Fantasy Football?
Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins
It feels like 280 yards and two touchdowns for Tua Tagovailoa is a disappointment, given how many points the Miami Dolphins scored.
Tagovailoa is obviously still a very good quarterback, both in real life and fantasy. The problem is he just enjoyed his last favorable matchup of the season.
The Tennessee Titans are an OK matchup next week, but it’s the fantasy playoffs that are the problem. Tua gets the Jets, Cowboys, and Ravens. All three are extremely tough against the pass.
Tagovailoa will still be startable, but the ceiling games may not be there. If you can sell him for a QB with a better schedule, it might be worth considering.

Should You Trade Tua Tagovailoa for Justin Fields?
This is such a wild proposition, right? Tagovailoa is quarterbacking one of the best offenses in football. Justin Fields is on the Bears. But fantasy football isn’t always about which offense is better. The reality is that Tagovailoa hasn’t been nearly as good as the perception of him would have you think.
Tagovailoa has just four games with 20+ fantasy points this season. Fields has three, and he’s missed four games.

There’s no denying Tagovailoa is the better quarterback. How much weight do we give that? Because his schedule is about as tough as it gets. Meanwhile, Fields has three extremely favorable matchups in his final four games.
If you can trade Tua for Fields plus another startable piece, that sure looks like it might be a net gain for your fantasy team.
Should You Trade Jared Goff for Justin Herbert?
Jared Goff has been much more of a floor play than a ceiling play this season. He’s certainly proven capable of spike weeks, but Goff’s biggest selling point is he doesn’t fail.
Herbert is apt to some massive fails. Give him a tough defense or a game where the Chargers don’t have to throw, and he falls apart. But the ceiling is mighty high.
Ultimately, Herbert is the better quarterback, and his remaining schedule doesn’t have any no-go games. While Goff’s schedule isn’t bad, either, I would rather chase the upside of Herbert, as that is what wins championships.
