Zamir White Week 15 Start/Sit: Fantasy Outlook for Raiders RB vs. Chargers

    Published on

Las Vegas Raiders RB Josh Jacobs missed practice this week with an injury. Does this make Zamir White a viable fantasy option vs. the Chargers in Week 15?

The Las Vegas Raiders may be without dynamic starting RB Josh Jacobs against the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday Night Football while he deals with a knee injury.

Does that make Zamir White a viable plug-and-play option at RB for your fantasy football team in Week 15?

Editor’s Note: Jacobs is OUT for Week 15’s matchup against the Chargers.

Should You Start Zamir White in Week 15?

The production and usage of Jacobs over the last two seasons hasn’t given White very many opportunities to showcase his skills on the football field. He has just 37 carries for 124 yards and no scores through the 27 games of his NFL career.

This doesn’t mean that White can’t be a productive back if given an opportunity. We simply don’t have a big enough sample size to give a definitive answer one way or the other.

Now, if Jacobs is inactive — which is the only scenario where you should consider starting White — White profiles as the better early-down and short-yardage option out of this Raiders backfield. Ameer Abdullah would likely be the preferred pass-catching back, which is evident by his 14 receptions this season to White’s six.

White would likely project as a TD-dependent fantasy option in an offense that scored a grand total of zero points last week. If Jacobs is inactive, he’ll certainly see more work, but White would be a very high-risk, moderate-reward candidate at RB for Week 15.

Should You Start White or Joshua Kelley?

Without knowing Jacobs’ status at this moment, Joshua Kelley would be my preferred option. It’s been a while, but we’ve seen Kelley produce two 12+ point fantasy performances this season with Austin Ekeler in the lineup, which can’t be said for White if Jacobs is available.

However, if Jacobs is inactive, then I would prefer White over Kelley in Week 15.

Should You Start White or Chase Brown?

The answer to this question is Cincinnati Bengals RB Chase Brown without hesitation if Jacobs is active for Thursday. However, the answer is still Brown even if Jacobs is inactive because of his recently expanded role and big-play capabilities.

Brown saw his touches go from nine to 11 last week, and his yardage production jumped with it from 61 to 105 and a score. I’m rolling with Brown regardless of Jacobs’ status in Week 15.
