Zach Wilson’s Trade Suitors: Top Landing Spots for Jets QB Include Rams and Saints

    Published on

Zach Wilson's time with the New York Jets may be soon ending. With a potential trade on the horizon, here's a look at the best landing spots for the young QB.

Since Zach Wilson was drafted by the New York Jets, it’s been a struggle to find consistency and solid ground for the young quarterback. With the Jets now firmly in the process of moving on from Wilson, his time with the team looks to be coming to an end sooner rather than later.

Which NFL franchises present the best potential landing spots if the current Jets’ backup QB is moved?

Who Might Trade for New York Jets QB Zach Wilson?

Los Angeles Rams Provide Fresh Start

Nowhere Wilson gets traded is he going to be expected to contribute anytime soon. With that in mind, going to a well-established place at the QB spot and having a young coaching staff that can help build you back up sounds like a perfect scenario.

Insert Sean McVay, Matthew Stafford, and the Los Angeles Rams into the conversation. With Stafford as the clear starter and former Las Vegas Raiders QB Jimmy Garoppolo now in the fold as QB2, Wilson can join the Rams and get out of the spotlight for a while as he builds up his confidence and ability under the staff’s teaching.

49ers Provide Another Clean Slate for Wilson

There may not be a coach or organization that gets the most out of its quarterbacks better than Kyle Shanahan and the San Francisco 49ers. What they have been able to do with Brock Purdy during his young career is nothing short of amazing. If Wilson is looking to be molded by a QB guru, going to the Niners may be just what he needs.

The 49ers have added Joshua Dobbs to the mix and also have Brandon Allen in the fold. If Wilson can come into training camp and compete with one of those two guys, he may be able to revive his NFL career in a backup role in one of the best situations.

    Saints Provide Unique Opportunity

While Derek Carr is locked in as the No. 1 in New Orleans, the Saints saw Jameis Winston head to Cleveland to join the Browns, leaving a bit of a question mark at QB2. With Jake Haener in the fold and recently signed Nathan Peterman in the mix, there’s not much behind Carr that inspires confidence if he were to miss time.

While this may not be the best situation for Wilson if he’s looking for a fresh start to work on his game, it does provide him with a chance to be one play away from the action.
