Xavien Howard has moved on from the Miami Dolphins after an eight-season run as a Pro Bowl cornerback. But despite his departure in a salary cap move, he still thinks highly of the franchise.
That includes his belief that Tua Tagovailoa can lead Miami to a Super Bowl win.
Xavien Howard: Dolphins Can ‘Definitely’ Win a Super Bowl With Tua Tagovailoa
Appearing on The OGs podcast Tuesday alongside former NBA stars and Miami Heat champions Mike Miller and Udonis Haslem, the group was asked by a fan if Tagovailoa can indeed win a championship with Miami.
Haslem, a prominent member of all three Heat championship teams, immediately gave it a “Hell yeah!” response. He even added how the 2000 Baltimore Ravens won the big game with Trent Dilfer. Miller noted that he believes Tagovailoa is the more exciting quarterback compared to Dilfer.
But as Haslem was answering the question, Howard himself was chiming in with his take.

“Yeah. I feel like they can definitely do that. I feel like they definitely win a ‘chip with him,” Howard said.
That’s a strong vote of confidence from a now-former teammate of Tagovailoa’s. The Dolphins quarterback hasn’t won a playoff game yet despite earning Pro Bowl credentials and leading an electric, high-scoring Dolphins offense in 2023.
Did Howard Reveal the Next NFL Team He Wants To Play For?
Meanwhile, many across the league are wondering what the next stop will be for the four-time Pro Bowl corner.
Howard remains an unsigned free agent. He’s watched names like Carlton Davis (Detroit Lions), Sean Murphy-Bunting (Arizona Cardinals), and Kendall Fuller (Dolphins) sign elsewhere. Closer to the top of the market, Jaylon Johnson signed a blockbuster $76 million deal to stay with the Chicago Bears, and slot CB Kenny Moore II remained with the Indianapolis Colts.
It seems like the market is starting to dry up for Howard and any team seeking future cornerback help. Many NFL teams are now likely turning to April’s draft to fill their CB room.
But there’s one possibility that Howard revealed regarding where he’s hoping to go, and it presents a chance for him to remain in the AFC. Howard admitted to seeing the Houston Texans as a strong suitor.
“I would love that opportunity,” Howard told the NBA champions. “Especially back at home.”
Howard is a native of Houston, TX. He starred for Wheatley High School before heading off to Baylor.
“I wouldn’t say I’ve always been a Houston Texans fan. But this offseason, I’m a very huge Houston Texans fan,” Howard said.

He outlined the reason why he’s attracted to the Texans: 2023’s breakout rookie QB, C.J. Stroud. “Man, they’ve got a hell of a quarterback over there,” Howard said.
Miller then laid out his big prediction: Howard to the Texans.
