The wrestling world is still reeling from John Cena’s massive heel turn at the end of WWE’s Elimination Chamber, as he joined forces with The Rock (and Travis Scott) to take down Cody Rhodes.
The stage has been set for Wrestlemania 41, as Cena will challenge Rhodes for the WWE Championship. Cena is in his last year as a WWE superstar after previously announcing his planned retirement with one final run to end this year.
With the retirement looming, Cena has stated that his goal is simple: To win his 17th world title and surpass Ric Flair. With that 17th world title in his sights, could Cena be ready to make history?
Ric Flair Hints at Surprise Return at WrestleMania
With Cena pursuing that 17th world title, many have wondered what the man he is aiming to surpass thinks about it. Flair is no stranger to speaking his mind, and he took to X to speak his mind about Cena’s pursuit.
It’s Been 25 Years Since I Won My Last, 16th World Championship, According To The @WWE. Blood, Sweat, And Tears! Flair, who has had his share of health issues over the years and recently turned 76 years old, showcases his willingness to get involved if it means helping Rhodes and preventing Cena from breaking his record.
Flair referenced his legacy in the NWA days in the tweet, mentioning his legendary 1984 title run and the numerous opponents that he faced throughout that run. Flair is considered one of the greatest world champions ever, if not the greatest.
The Likelihood of Flair Appearing at WrestleMania 41
Flair’s last major appearance came during his run for AEW, which led up to Sting’s retirement. Yet, there’s always a chance we’ll see Flair get involved as WrestleMania approaches.
While it’s doubtful that he will play a role in the Cena vs. Rhodes feud and match, there’s a possibility that Flair will find his way into some form of segment at WrestleMania 41, considering it is now a two-night event.
Cena vs. Rhodes will be a hot ticket heading into The Grandest Stage of Them All, and considering what occurred with the main event of WrestleMania 40, there might be a repeat of that excitement for this.
Cena and his partnership with The Rock will likely cause some issues with others within the company, especially those who consider themselves friends of Rhodes. This begs the question, who will Rhodes have on his side heading into WrestleMania?
Will Flair find a way in to protect his record from being surpassed? How does CM Punk feel about this new alliance after he passed out in the Men’s Elimination Chamber match?
Several questions still need to be answered.
