AJ Styles Reveals Crazy Diet He Went on Before Making His Surprise WWE Return

AJ Styles has been showcasing his wrestling talent for over 25 years. Despite being in his late 40s, he’s maintained an incredible physique and remains one of the most athletic wrestlers on the WWE roster.

Many fans wonder how Styles does it. The Phenomenal One recently was asked about his fitness secrets, and he shared the key part of his diet that helps him stay in top shape.

    AJ Styles Has Lost Weight

In recent years, Styles has noticeably built muscle, looking far more muscular than he did a decade ago. Recently, on the “Insight with Chris Van Vliet” podcast, Styles opened up about his diet and mindset, explaining how he transformed his physique.

While many assume he bulked up, Styles revealed on the podcast that his body transformation actually came from weight loss.

“Everybody thinks I bulked up,” he said. “I lost weight. I was not any heavier than I was before…”

Styles credited his strict diet rather than spending endless hours in the gym. He discussed how extreme fasting has played a major role in his fitness journey, revealing to Van Vliet that his fasts included only water and that before making his surprise WWE return, he completed a three-day fast.

“Fasting is a big part of my diet as well,” Styles said. “A three-day fast, just water… maybe a week before I came back, so I was shredded.”

    Styles’ Shift in Mindset

Reflecting on his fitness journey, Styles emphasized that achieving a top-tier physique requires a mindset shift and a willingness to embrace discomfort. He believes if something is worth doing, it won’t be easy.

“All you got to do is sit in that cold plunge. That’s all you gotta do is sit down. All you gotta do in a sauna is just sit there. All you gotta do is not eat and drink water. These things are easy to do, or they should be, but we’re addicted to so many different lifestyles of being easy and nice.

“You know what the worst time to get in the cold plunge is? It’s when you’re comfortable. It’s perfect outside, it’s perfect inside. Oh, it’s great, and then you get in the cold plunge,” Styles explained.

He also pointed out that once someone gets used to discomfort, it becomes easier. The phenomenal physique we see in the ring is the result of both mental and physical discipline from Styles.
