Gray was at her relentless best in the semifinals against the Laces BC earlier, posting 39 points, including a clutch, game-winning three-pointer, to steer her team across the finish line. She outscored Laces in the fourth quarter (9-5) to help her team to the win.

Gray put up 18 points and eight assists in the finals against the Vinyl and was named the playoff MVP, becoming the first in history to win a WNBA Championship, WNBA Finals MVP, Olympic Gold Medal, Unrivaled Championship, and Unrivaled Playoff MVP awards.

Gray earned the MVP chants from Rose head coach Nola Henry as well, who said: “Thanks to Chelsea for carrying us all season long. As I told everybody early, she’s our real MVP.”

Gray, who missed the 2024 WNBA season due to a fractured foot that she suffered in the 2023 Finals, was delighted to see her hard work get rewarded with the Unrivaled championship.

“Hell yeah I was motivated ,” she said. “Last year was hard. It was rough. Even when I came back I wasn’t 100%.”

“I just put the work in, do my job and talk after winning. I don’t talk before that. I just do my job and want to compete and make others better, honestly,” she added from the podium.

The 32-year-old was also all praise of star forward Azurá Stevens, who added 19 points and 18 rebounds.

“She was so efficient tonight,” Gray said. “She was huge. Getting inside the paint, rolling, playing defense.”

While Brittany Sykes topped the team with 21 points, Gray was the clutch performer and contributed to eight of the team’s 11 points in the fourth quarter. However, the honor of scoring the winning point belonged to Sykes, who got fouled on her, made a layup, and hit the free throw to seal the game.

As Sykes’ shot went in and confetti shot through the air, the Rose players unveiled a customized shirt for the win. The shirt featured ESPN’s preseason rankings in the front, where Rose was projected to finish last – and what better to prove your doubters wrong?
