During her run at Iowa, Caitlin Clark emerged as the face of women’s basketball as she’s dominated on every level she’s played in. In both the NCAA and WNBA, she has set an unbelievable amount of records, including being the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer across both men’s and women’s basketball.
Despite extending her 30-point streak against UCLA to four games, USC star sophomore JuJu Watkins, who has emerged as a top WNBA prospect, is still not close to touching Clark’s Division I record.
JuJu Watkins Still Chasing Caitlin Clark Despite USC Star’s Historic Run
One of the records that Clark holds could be in danger as Watkins has been on a tear as of late. After her 30-point performance in the Trojans’ upset victory over rival No. 2 UCLA, she has extended her 30-point streak against the Bruins to four games, tied for the third most in Division I against a single opponent since 1999-2000.
While this is very impressive, it’s nowhere close to Clark’s record as she had 10 straight games with 30 or more against Nebraska and five against Minnesota.
Via @ESPNStatsInfo: JuJu Watkins has scored 30 points in 4-straight games vs UCLA. That's tied for the 3rd-longest streak vs. a single opponent in DI since 1999-00. The only player with a longer streak in that span is Caitlin Clark (10-straight v Nebraska, 5-straight v Minnesota)

While this is very impressive nonetheless, it goes to show just how incredible Clark is. Her numbers in the NCAA already put her in a league of her own, but she’s also already broken too many records to count in just one season in the WNBA.
Furthermore, she’s taken one of the worst teams in the league into a legitimate champion contender. The Fever currently sit with the third-best odds to win the WNBA championship at +450, and Clark has the second-best odds at +240 to win MVP behind only Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson.
This in itself can’t be understated as this Fever team had had back-to-back No. 1 overall picks in the WNBA Draft in 2023 and 2024. Clark isn’t the only factor to Indiana’s success, but she is certainly the primary reason.
On top of having the second-best chances at winning MVP, she also has the second-best odds at finishing as the league’s leading scorer, which is incredibly impressive considering she is likely the best playmaker in the WNBA. This two-way game paired with solid defense in just her second season should absolutely terrify the rest of the league.
Watkins is currently tearing up the NCAA and has a ton of potential, but as of right now, it’d be hard to say she’s going to be on Clark’s level once she reaches the WNBA, though as a sophomore, there’s plenty of time for her to improve.
