Will Miami Dolphins CB Jalen Ramsey Make a Full Recovery?

Miami Dolphins CB Jalen Ramsey said "it won’t be a tough task" to return to his previous heights. But he does have his doubters.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The Miami Dolphins in general, and Mike McDaniel, in particular, are not going to put any undue stress, pressure, or expectations on Jalen Ramsey as the star cornerback recovers from major knee surgery.

No matter what any outside observer says — even the former team physician for the then-San Diego Chargers.

    Jalen Ramsey Rehab Update

McDaniel has been consistent in that approach, and that didn’t change Wednesday, even after a very public back and forth on X — nee Twitter — between Chao and Ramsey.

    The backstory:

Chao, appearing on the I Am Athlete podcast, dared to say the following:

“I think it’s a tall order for Jalen Ramsey to come back and be Jalen Ramsey.”

    Ramsey’s response?

“SHUT UP! I done let a couple things slide, but y’all have no clue what’s even going on, just talkin to hear y’all selves talk! Last I checked, I serve the 1 & ONLY God who dictates everything, not all these twitter/“X” doctors who have NEVER seen me in their lives lol

    “God bless!”

It is a fascinating topic, however, as the Dolphins have not (and probably will not) said that they expect Ramsey to make a full recovery — either this year or beyond.

And so we asked McDaniel that very question Wednesday, providing the context of Chao’s remarks and Ramsey’s response. After reacting with an expression that was half-bewilderment, half-bemusement, McDaniel said the following:

“I would hesitate to boldly tell Jalen Ramsey what he’s going to be. I don’t think that’s in his mind at all. In my profession or my job, I don’t have the time to look at X. You know, I have bigger fish to fry. But we’re not even worried about what it looks like at the end. We’re worried about appropriately handling the present, because you stack that stuff up.

“Those things will be determined by things that aren’t mine or ‘X’. Whatever is going on there, that’s outside of our control. So, I’m good with where he’s at. I’m very happy that I, that I saw him yesterday, crutch-less.”

Chao tried to make amends later in the day Tuesday, but Ramsey was having none of it.
