Brock Bowers is widely regarded as the top tight end prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft class, but he’s elected not to attend the event in person. Here’s a look at why the highly talented Georgia product is not in Detroit for the NFL Draft.
Is Brock Bowers at the NFL Draft?
The NFL announced a few weeks back the list of 13 players who are set to attend this year’s draft in person. Highly touted quarterbacks Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Drake Maye headline the group of attendees alongside fellow top prospects Terrion Arnold, Marvin Harrison Jr., JC Latham, Laiatu Latu, Quinyon Mitchell, Malik Nabers, Rome Odunze, Darius Robinson, Brian Thomas Jr., and Dallas Turner.
Bowers was not on the list, however, and Pro Football Talk reported at the time that Bowers was one of a few players who declined an invite to the draft.
This could be for a few reasons. First, both prospects and the league want to avoid the awkward moments that come with attendees sliding either well below their projected slot or out of the first round entirely and having the spotlight on them throughout the night in a similar fashion to Will Levis last year.
Additionally, prospects may simply prefer to experience one of the biggest moments of their lives from the comfort of their own homes with as many family members as they desire in attendance.
It’s unclear why Bowers specifically made his decision, but those could certainly be some of the factors that played into it.
Bowers’ Potential in the NFL
Bowers has been highly regarded by NFL executives for some time after showcasing impressive physical tools during his impressive three-year run at Georgia. He racked up a combined 175 catches for 2,538 yards and 26 touchdowns across the last three seasons and helped lead Georgia to back-to-back national championships in the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

Pro Football Network’s Ian Cummings was impressed with Bowers’ explosiveness as a playmaker and versatility to impact an offense in different ways, and highlighted just what makes him such a tantalizing prospect in his scouting report of the TE:
“Bowers grades out as a top-10 prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft,” Cummings wrote. “He’s a blue-chip talent and the clear-cut No. 1 player at his position. Not only that, but his ability arguably transcends positional bounds and will enable him to be a usage-versatile offensive weapon in the NFL.
“Some prospects make evaluations easy, and Bowers is one who does that. From the very start of his collegiate career, he proved himself to be a cut above the average player. His constant production emphasizes that, and his tape only confirms his rare ability.”
