The 2024 NFL season has kicked off, and this week, we get a special Friday Night Football game. The game, a showdown between the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers, will be streamed exclusively on the streaming service Peacock.

With the NFL pushing for more streaming services to be involved, including Netflix and Amazon, why is Friday’s first-ever Brazil game on Peacock?

Why Is the Eagles and Packers Game on Peacock?

The Peacock edition of Friday Night Football will be the first-ever Brazil game. The agreement between Peacock and the NFL came just a year after Amazon Prime Video secured exclusive rights to Thursday Night Football. The success of TNF on Prime was pivotal in the Peacock deal.

The announcing crew for the game will be the usual NBC Sunday Night Football crew, with Cris Collinsworth and Mike Tirico in the booth. If fans want to watch, they will need to sign up with Peacock’s premium tier, which costs $5.99 a month.

An added benefit of the game on Peacock is that there will be a 40% reduction in total ads for the game. The entire fourth quarter of the game will air commercial-free, giving fans an additional 12 minutes of game coverage.

Although the game is exclusive to Peacock, local fans of both teams will still be able to watch. Additionally, NBC is partnering with EverPass Media to provide games to commercial businesses. This means there is a chance local bars and restaurants might be airing the game. However, if the business uses DIRECTV, they would have to sign up separately.
