Why Is ‘Choose Love’ Written in the End Zone During Super Bowl 59? NFL Explains the On-Field Message

With the Super Bowl on the horizon, the NFL has a new message in the end zone, which has been the same for the past four years.

Since 2021, the NFL has had “End Racism” in the end zone for both Super Bowl teams; this year, they decided to put new messages in the end zone, and fans wonder why.

Why Did the NFL Change the End Zone?

Since 2021, the NFL has had “End Racism” in the end zone at the Super Bowl. That started after the death of George Floyd and the protests that followed.

The times have changed, and so has the message. This year’s message is “Choose Love” and “It Takes All of Us.” The NFL explained why they changed this year’s message.

“The Super Bowl is often a snapshot in time, and the NFL is in a unique position to capture and lift the imagination of the country,” NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy told CNN in a statement.

“‘Choose Love’ is appropriate to use in the Super Bowl as our country has endured in recent weeks wildfires in southern California, the terrorist attack here in New Orleans, the plane and helicopter crash near our nation’s capital, and the plane crash in Philadelphia.”

Some people were disappointed that the message changed. The women of “The View” expressed their opinions about what the NFL had decided to do. One of the co-hosts, Sunny Hostin, thinks it is a bit fishy that the NFL would do this now.

“I think it’s a little fishy and shady,” Hostin said during the Friday, Feb. 7 episode of “The View.”

Although she admits that the new messages are noble, she still thinks something is up with the new message.

“I think that those are very noble things to honor and discuss, but I don’t know how ‘Choose Love’ and ‘It Takes All of Us’ relates to that,” she continued.

“It seems to me like the ‘End Racism’ probably has a lot to do with the fact that the sitting president is [going to be] there,” Hostin said about Donald Trump, who plans to attend the Super Bowl.

The other co-host defended the decision, but during another segment of the show, when they were all fixing their Super Bowl snacks, co-host Whoopi Goldberg stumped on the homemade end zone the show had made, and it did have “End Racism” in their end zone to the cheers of the audience.

But in the end, the message has been changed, and the NFL is sticking with its decision.
