While the result is often what you are measured by in the NFL, by all metrics Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins offense have much to be proud of and excited for after the 2023 season.
Tagovailoa and the Mike McDaniel-led offense was as dynamic as any group in the NFL. The speed, creativity, and statistical output on that side of the ball were something worth taking note of.
As a result, Tua was named to the Pro Bowl team and will have five other teammates there with him. We take a closer look at the season Tagovailoa had and how he got here.
Tua Tagovailoa’s Year in Review
When you lead the entire NFL in fan voting for the Pro Bowl it’s probably because you had an awesome statistical season. In Tua’s case, this rings true, as he was the orchestrator of one of the most dynamic offenses in the NFL.
The Dolphins’ QB finished the season with 4,624 passing yards and 29 touchdown passes with a QB rating of 101.1.
Miami finished the season 11-6 and second in the AFC East after a laundry list of injuries plagued the team all season long, particularly towards the end of the year. Eventually, the Dolphins would lose in the Wild Card round of the postseason to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, who are now preparing to play in the Super Bowl.
But despite the early-round exit and the team’s struggles down the stretch, Tua took a leap under McDaniel in 2023. And while things change quickly in the NFL, Tagovailoa and the Dolphins have something to build on offensively to feel good about in the new year.
Tua Looking To Level Up in 2024
Nobody within the Miami organization will tell you that they are satisfied with the way things ended this year. A host of injuries and tough losses will be the final thoughts from a season that seemed to be heading in a positive direction.
However, Tua and this offense leaped in 2023 and have talent and a plan in place to build on for the next year. The 2024 season will be a big one for Tagovailoa, as he once again tries to prove to the NFL world that he belongs in the conversation with the other high-level quarterbacks around him.

Those around Tua — like wide receiver Tyreek Hill — believe in him. McDaniel, meanwhile, is the type of coach to put him in the best chance to succeed, and the talent around him continues to get better by the year.
It may be a make-or-break year for Tua in 2024 and his future. Yet, he has 2023 to build off of as a reason why the expectations may be so high for him and the Dolphins.
