Why Are Detroit Lions Fans Wearing Blue Ski Masks?

    Published on

Who is behind the new fashion look for the Lions, and why might this year feel different in Detroit?

When you’re watching the Detroit Lions play the Seattle Seahawks, you might notice Lions fans wearing blue ski masks. The Lions are coming off a Week 1 win after a strong finish to the 2022 season under head coach Dan Campbell.

Lions cornerback C.J. Gardner-Johnson asked all friends attending the game to wear blue ski masks to today’s game. Detroit has sold out all season tickets for the first time in Ford Field history. Gardner-Johnson said, “You’re going to see blue ski masks everywhere on Sunday.”

Gardner-Johnson explained the blue ski masks on Tuesday, “We villains, right? It’s part of us. It’s the culture. I’m changing it. We taking what’s ours.”

Gardner-Johnson wore a blue ski mask during the team’s win in Kansas City. He’s in his first season in Detroit after playing with the New Orleans Saints and Philadelphia Eagles.
