No division in football history has produced the amount of championships and dominant play that the NFC East has over the years.
Whether it’s the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, and Washington Commanders and their previous Super Bowl history, or the rise of the Philadelphia Eagles as a league power, the NFC East as a division has always had a strong foundation of physical play and excellent storylines.
As OTAs get underway, Pro Football Network’s NFL Playoff Predictor tool has tried to find the solution to the question of which team will come out on top of the division.
Eagles, Cowboys Deadlocked for NFC East Crown
In our simulations, the Eagles and the Cowboys are deadlocked for the best odds to win the NFC East and receive a home playoff game this upcoming season.
While Dallas has been predicted to reach the top overall seed more, Philadelphia has the best odds of reaching as high as the third seed. The Cowboys, meanwhile, have been predicted to come out of the wild card more than any other team in the division.
The Commanders and Giants are not predicted at all to win the coveted NFC East crown.
At the very least, PFN’s simulators suggest another showdown is coming between the Birds and the Boys.
A Rising Beast in Washington?
While the Commanders and Giants may not be expected to reach the playoffs this season, Washington’s offseason moves have catapulted them into the conversation for the seventh and final playoff spot this season.
Washington drafted Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels with the hopes that he can reinvigorate much of the fanbase and franchise as a whole.
With a revamped front office, coaching staff, and defense, it’s the Commanders who could be the biggest wild card for both Philadelphia and Dallas.
Potential NFL Playoff Matchups
The Eagles’ most likely opponent in the playoffs is their rivals, the Cowboys. The Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Rams are other teams consistently tied to the Eagles, but Philadelphia’s most likely opponent happens to be their archrival.

From the Cowboys’ perspective, Dallas is more likely to face off against the NFC South winner, with the Atlanta Falcons being a consistent opponent.
The lone playoff matchups the Giants had came against the Rams, while the Commanders only had one predicted matchup against the Carolina Panthers.
What Team Will Get the No. 1 Pick in the 2025 NFL Draft?
Surprisingly, it wasn’t the Giants that claimed the top odds for the top overall pick in 2025.
It’s the Cowboys.
Washington was also in consideration as two different simulations gave them a top pick and four had them landing in the top two, but it’s the Cowboys who landed the top overall pick in three different simulations.
Dallas is coming off an offseason that saw the team add Ezekiel Elliott at running back, but made little adjustments to the linebacking core, defensive line, and offensive line outside of the draft.
With looming contract negotiations coming with Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Micah Parsons, the Cowboys are going to be losing out on plenty of talent despite the increasing cap space.
