Sunday Night Football Game Preview, Week 11: Chiefs vs Raiders

The Raiders are one of the biggest surprises of the 2020 season. After a disappointing 2019, it looked as if the Raiders were set up for mediocrity in their first year in Las Vegas. Gruden’s squad has proven to be anything other than mediocre. They’ve beaten the Saints and Chiefs, and they’re currently on a three-game winning streak. They seem to be a lock for a playoff spot with a soft schedule coming into the rest of the season. Week 11’s Sunday Night Football tonight could go a long way in determining the eventual division winner in the AFC West.

So, what prompted this quick turnaround? It all starts with Derek Carr. He’s in the top 10 this season in QBR, leading a Raiders offense that’s eighth in the NFL in scoring. Josh Jacobs has been vital to the Raiders’ success; he’s on pace for over 1,500 yards from scrimmage and 20 touchdowns. He’s quickly turning into one of the NFL’s best running backs.

How will they attack the Chiefs during Week 11’s Sunday Night Football matchup? In their first encounter, the Raiders leaned heavily on the big play. Henry Ruggs had a 72 -yard touchdown, Nelson Agholor had a 59-yard touchdown, Hunter Renfroe had a 42-yard reception, and Devontae Booker averaged 8.9 yards per carry. Usually, a slow grinding offense, putting the ball in the hands of their playmakers, won them their first matchup. Don’t expect that to change tonight.

The Chiefs have one loss on the season; it came against tonight’s opponent. They understand they were beaten with big plays and that the Raiders are just as dangerous if you allow them to move the ball methodically. What’s the best way to combat that? Don’t let them have the ball.

The Chiefs are one of the quickest moving offenses in the NFL, putting up points with ease on most drives. They’d rather avoid giving the ball over to a potent Raiders offense in this one, though. Look for Andy Reid and Eric Bieniemy to slow things down by attacking with their running game and a short passing game that plays to the strengths of Travis Kelce and Mecole Hardman.

The Week 11 Chiefs vs. Raiders matchup is a tight one. That said, you shouldn’t bet against Andy Reid coming off a bye week.

Sunday Night Football Week 11 Score Prediction: Chiefs win 30-24
