As the world prepares to watch the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals faceoff in the AFC Championship Game, one question some might have is surrounding the famous celebration of the United States that takes place ahead of kickoff. Who is singing the national anthem before the Chiefs vs. Bengals game?

Who Is Singing the National Anthem at Arrowhead?

Ahead of the Chiefs’ home game against the Bengals, United States Navy Veteran Generald Wilson will have the honor of singing the national anthem. Wilson will be a familiar face for sports fans and specifically Chiefs fans, as he also sang the anthem ahead of their season opener back in September.

Wilson has sung in front of Chiefs fans a number of times during his 20-year career.

In an interview with Kansas City local news network KSHB 41 back in January 2021 before the Chiefs playoff game against the Cleveland Browns, Wilson spoke about his passion for the game. He added that his purpose is to set the atmosphere for keeping unity and excitement.

“For that minute and a half, you’re putting away your differences and you’re singing a song together with the person sitting next to you; the person way across the field or the court,” Wilson said. “And that minute and a half, you’re coming together because you love this country. And then the excitement is to sing a song that’s close to the original as possible, but still give you that flavor!”

Regardless of the national anthem, the Chiefs and Bengals game is shaping up to be one of the more exciting of the season. With a trip to Super Bowl 57 on the line, these two offensive juggernauts will face off for the second time this year. The Bengals bested Kansas City 27-24 back in Week 13 and have actually defeated the Chiefs three straight times dating back to last year.

Can Patrick Mahomes, who is not 100% after suffering an ankle injury last week, right the ship and make it back to the Super Bowl? Or will Joe Burrow extend his dominance over the Chiefs?
