Who is Brock Bowers? UGA tight end leads offense, draft eligible in 2024

When is Georgia TE Brock Bowers set to become eligible for the NFL Draft, and what separates him from the rest of the nation's tight ends?

Well-balanced. Broad. Well-structured. Bright. Opulent. Graceful. Big. Memorable. Buttery. Smooth. Yes, I’m talking about something from Napa, California. But, no, I’m not talking wine. I’m talking about Georgia TE Brock Bowers. The big-bodied, well-structured, bright, smooth, and graceful tight end has put the college football world on notice with his play in 2021. As he’ll play a vital role in Georgia’s offensive attack throughout the College Football Playoff, we take time today to look at just who the 18-year-old tight end from is, what he brings to the table, and when he is eligible for the NFL Draft.

Brock Bowers leads UGA offense in 2021

It’s safe to say the Georgia Bulldogs were known for their defense in 2021. With no less than 10 players that should hear their names called in the 2022 NFL Draft, their defensive side of the ball dominated the action in historic ways this past season.

In fact, without their defense, they likely wouldn’t have been in the College Football Playoff or in a place to potentially defeat Alabama for the SEC Championship just a few weeks ago.

But that’s not saying there wasn’t some brightness to their offense in 2021. Bowers was that brightness and plans to continue to be so for the next few years. The true freshman tight end led the Dawgs in every major receiving category with 47 receptions, 791 yards, and 11 touchdowns.

Bowers had five games with multiple touchdowns this season and had four games where he recorded over 100 yards receiving. His 791 receiving yards accounted for nearly a quarter of the Bulldogs’ total passing yards in 2021, while his 11 touchdowns made up 33% of the team’s total passing touchdowns.

When is Brock Bowers NFL Draft eligible?

A true freshman, Bowers is set to grace the college football world with his presence for at least two more seasons. At 6’4″, 230 pounds, Bowers has room to grow into his frame over those two years and become a legitimate threat at the next level. He’s already fast and strong enough to crack an NFL roster as he routinely overpowers linebackers and speeds past defensive backs.

Bowers finished the season as a semifinalist for the Mackey Award and was placed on just about every publication’s freshman All-American list. He’ll enter the next two seasons on the shortlist for nearly every award as well.

With the College Football Playoff at hand, Bowers could realistically even crack 1,000 yards receiving if he were to have another one or two of his dominant performances. After all, Bowers does indeed show up for the big games, as he hauled in a career-high 10 catches against Alabama in the SEC Championship Game.

UGA may need some of that full-bodied Bowers’ Magic — and then some — in the Playoff.
