Who Is Anthony Brown? The Baltimore Ravens QB Who Backs Up Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley

    Published on

Who is Anthony Brown? Let's take a look at the third quarterback on the Baltimore Ravens depth chart.

With so much focus on two Pro Bowl quarterbacks in front of him, will second-year quarterback Anthony Brown be able to make a lane for himself this NFL preseason to keep him on the Baltimore Ravens‘ 53-man roster?

Brown’s opportunities haven’t been plentiful just yet, but as we all know with the NFL, things change quickly, and in a blink of an eye, it could be the young quarterback’s time to shine under center. Before that happens, let us take a closer look at just who Brown is.

    Who Is Anthony Brown?

Brown grew up in New Jersey and attended St. John Vianney High School in Holmdel Township, New Jersey, where, as a senior, he passed for 2,298 yards and 33 touchdowns while rushing for 604 yards and nine more touchdowns on the ground en route to being named first-team all-state and the Shore Conference Football Player of the Year.

Brown would go on after high school to play college football at Boston College, where he would spend four seasons — playing in three of them after a redshirt freshman year — and started 28 games.

Brown would finish with a record of 15-13 as an Eagle and, after 2019, decided that a change was in order. He opted to utilize his extra year of eligibility granted to college athletes who played in the 2020 season due to the coronavirus pandemic to take his talents to Oregon to be a Duck.

Brown made his debut in Oregon in the 2021 season and played in 14 games, going 10-4 before it was time to switch his focus to preparing for an opportunity in the NFL.

    Anthony Brown’s NFL Life

Out of college, Brown signed with Baltimore as an undrafted free agent. After being with the team throughout training camp, he was released on cutdown day and signed to the practice squad the following day.

In 2022, Brown saw action in two games, starting one of them where he threw for 286 yards. However, he also committed three turnovers in a 27-16 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

What Does the Future Look Like for Brown?

Brown is very early in his NFL career and really hasn’t even scratched the surface of what he’s able to do for a franchise. The NFL rules allowing third quarterbacks to suit up on game day may keep him in Baltimore, but if it doesn’t, Brown may have the chance to play well enough in preseason action that affords him another opportunity somewhere else.
