“Trombone Shorty” being his stage name is a big indication of Troy Andrews’ musical talent as a trombone player. He has deep roots planted in his hometown music scene in New Orleans.

Some of Trombone Shorty’s accolades include touring with artists such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Aerosmith, and the Foo Fighters. He also has collaborated on songs with the likes of Pharrell Williams, Bruno Mars, Zac Brown, and Ringo Star. He performed at the 2014 Grammy Awards and has even performed at the White House during Barack Obama’s presidency.

Meanwhile, Lauren Daigle, a native of Lakes Charles, La., rose to fame with her album, “How Can It Be.” The album soon landed the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Top Christian Albums chart in 2015. Daigle’s work expanded outside of the Christian genre in 2018 with her third album, “Look Up Child.” Her single, “You Say,” which was also released in 2018, went platinum multiple times.

It was her 2023 self-titled album that not only launched her sixth chart-topping song, “Thank God I Do,” up the charts but also allowed her to hit a total of one billion streams on Pandora, making her one of the top-charting Christian singers of all time.

Daigle said in an interview with NOLA.com that she was excited to perform “America the Beautiful” this year in the Super Bowl.

“I’m excited. It’s going to be a beautiful opportunity for us to showcase what New Orleans represents, and the culture, and the beauty of unity in music,” Daigle said. “New Orleans has seen some trying times recently. To be able to offer a sound of hope for people in this city, to sing out over the city and from the city into the rest of the world, is going to be one of my favorite things, maybe ever.”

It won’t be the first time that Trombone Shorty and Daigle have teamed up. The two artists have worked together before when Trombone Shorty appeared in Daigle’s 2024 music video for “These Are The Days.” Daigle also appeared on his album “Lifted.”

Now the duo will have a chance to shine again in front of a global audience in Super Bowl 59 right in their old stomping grounds, as the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles in a Super Bowl rematch.
