Who Are the 4 Teams Left in 2023 NFL Playoffs? Super Bowl 58 Awaits the AFC and NFC Champions

    Published on

There are just four teams left in the 2023 NFL playoffs race. With a Super Bowl title on the line, let's take a look at who is still fighting to win it all.

The 2023 NFL playoffs are full-go right now, with the race for a Super Bowl title down to just four remaining teams. There are only two games left to decide who will represent the NFC and AFC in Super Bowl 58.

With the league’s best teams set to face off this weekend, let’s take a closer look at the four teams still left in contention for the Lombardi Trophy.

Who Are the 4 Teams Left in 2023 NFL Playoffs?

Two teams are left on the AFC side, and two teams are left on the NFC side. One game left for each conference as the NFL’s best squads duke it on the field for the right to play one final game on the sport’s biggest stage. Let’s take a look at who remains.

    Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens, led by quarterback Lamar Jackson, are the No. 1 seed in the AFC and have looked like the best team in the NFL for quite some time now. They finished the year with a record of 13-4 and earned themselves a first-round bye week for having the best record in their conference.

While other teams were fighting to advance in the Wild Card Round, the Ravens were at home getting some much-deserved rest before they re-entered the equation in the Divisional Round.

Once back on the field, it was back to business for a Ravens team that once again proved they are one of the NFL’s elite teams. They handled the Houston Texans convincingly in a 34-10 that has advanced them to the AFC Championship Game.

    Kansas City Chiefs

The Ravens opponent for the AFC Championship Game is a team that is very familiar with playing in the contest. This will be the sixth consecutive year that QB Patrick Mahomes and his Chiefs will play in the AFC Championship, but it will be the first time they will need to travel outside of Kansas City to do so.

The Chiefs finished the regular season 11-6 and earned themselves the No. 3 seed in the AFC playoffs. They dismantled the Miami Dolphins at home in the Wild Card Round before winning a tightly contested matchup over the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional Round.

Next up will be a road contest against the Ravens, with the winner going on to the Super Bowl to represent the AFC against the NFC’s standard-bearer.

    San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers are no strangers to the Conference Championship Round either, as this is their second consecutive year reaching the stage. The 49ers are led by young second-year QB Brock Purdy, a wide array of dynamic offensive options, and a stout defense that is capable of taking over a game against anyone.

The 49ers finished the regular season 12-5 and earned the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs and a first-round bye week. Coming out of the week, the 49ers had a hard-fought contest against a young but scrappy Green Bay Packers team and found a way to win and advance with a score of 24-21.

    Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions may be the most fun story of all of the playoff teams this year, as the franchise has waited 32 years for them to reach this point. The No. 3-seeded Lions shattered a playoff win draught last week and found a way to do so once again this week by winning and advancing to the NFC Championship Game for the first time since 1991.

The Lions finished the regular season with a record of 12-5 and ended the season as one of the hottest teams in the NFL. They have since parlayed that momentum into a deep playoff run that started with a tight Wild Card win over the Los Angeles Rams, 24-23.

From there, the Lions went on to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Divisional Round and won that contest in much more convincing fashion, 31-23. Next up for the Lions is a matchup in San Francisco against the 49ers, with a Super Bowl appearance on the line.
