Who Are Roman Wilson’s Parents? Everything You Need To Know About Colleen and Jeffrey

Roman Wilson's path to the NFL is one of the more interesting storylines this draft cycle. Who are his parents and what was his upbringing like?

Roman Wilson was a hero on the Michigan Wolverine’s CFP National Championship team this past season. Now, the top receiving target is a name expected to be called early during the 2024 NFL Draft.

What was Wilson’s upbringing like, and who are his parents who have helped him pave the way?

A Look at Roman Wilson’s Parents

Wilson was born on June 19, 2001, to parents Jeffery Wilson and Colleen Colegrove. His entire upbringing was spent on the islands of Hawaii, specifically Kihei.

Due to going to school in Honolulu, Wilson needed to wake up at 4:00 a.m. and fly to the capital just to attend St. Louis High School.

In a long interview with NFL Network at the 2024 Senior Bowl, Wilson broke down his experiences watching his parents sacrifice so much to send him to a proper private school.

Now, Wilson is expected his name to be called early in the 2024 NFL Draft and help change his parents’ lives as they did for him.

    Getting To Know Jeffrey Wilson

Jeffery met his wife Colleen at Western Michigan University and has been an avid supporter of his son throughout his playing career. In many ways, the sacrifices he and his wife made are the reason Wilson is considered a high-caliber player on and off the field.

While the family was managing to send Roman to school on another island, Jeffrey took on a job at the airlines to be able to send his son to high school. While Jeffrey later was able to afford an apartment, the Wilson family has had to struggle to make ends meet.

It wasn’t the only example of sacrifice made by the family, either.

    Getting To Know Colleen Colegrove

During his high school career, Roman understands that both his parents had to sacrifice to send him to high school. His mother, Colleen Colegrove ended up working three jobs to afford to send her son to school and get seen by some of the top colleges in the country.

It’s their sacrifices that make Wilson push for more in his playing career.

“I just want to continue to make them proud, man,” Wilson said in his interviews. “I think my family has done so much for me. My family has been through a lot. I just want to continue making them proud and hopefully, one day, I’ll pay it back for them.”

    Does Wilson Have Any Siblings?

Wilson is an only child to Colegrove and Jeffrey but did highlight the friends and families near St. Louis High School to make traveling easier. In a way, Wilson has used the support brought forth by his parents and people in Hawaii to set the stage for a potentially illustrious career in the NFL.
