Who Are Oregon QB Bo Nix’s Parents?

Getting to know Oregon QB Bo Nix's parents ahead of the No. 8 Ducks' much-anticipated clash with the No. 7 Washington Huskies.

Saturday’s much-anticipated top-10 showdown between undefeated conference rivals No. 7 Washington Huskies and No. 8 Oregon Duck is one of the most anticipated matchups of the college football season so far. Whichever team comes out victorious will gain a humongous advantage in their quest for a Pac-12 Championship.

Oregon’s high-scoring offense is piloted by fifth-year senior quarterback Bo Nix. After three up-and-down seasons at Auburn, Nix’s game has ascended to another level. In a season and a half with the Ducks, Nix has thrown for over 5,000 yards, 44 touchdowns, and just eight interceptions. He also boasts a 15-3 record as Oregon’s starting QB.

One of the few blemishes on Nix’s record came last year in a narrow late-season loss to, of all teams, Washington. That defeat knocked the Ducks out of their No. 6 ranking and, in turn, out of playoff contention. Nix will be looking for revenge this Saturday.

Supporting him in his efforts will be his mother and father, the latter of whom some readers might recognize.

    Who Are Bo Nix’s Parents?

Patrick and Krista Nix welcomed Bo into the world in February of 2000. While he was born in Arkansas, he grew up in Alabama. This makes it unsurprising that Bo initially chose to ply his trade collegiately at Auburn, especially considering his father played quarterback for the Tigers almost three decades prior.

Patrick Nix enjoyed two successful seasons as the primary starter under center for Auburn in the mid-90s. He quarterbacked the Tigers to a 17-5-1 record and a top-25 finish in both of his seasons at the helm.

His numbers weren’t overwhelming, but he had a near 2:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio and 217 pass yards per game in an era where the running game dominated, especially collegiately. Put simply, he kept the Auburn offense on schedule and opposing defenses honest.

Patrick displayed his gridiron acumen as a post-grad. as well. He got into coaching almost immediately after graduating, starting off as running backs coach for Jacksonville State. He’s bounced around as a position coach or coordinator for a number of different major programs, including Georgia Tech and Miami (FL).

Nix has been a head coach at the high school level for the past decade, coaching at a number of different Alabama-based schools. Notably, he coached his son, Bo, during his playing career at Pinson Valley High School. He and his son won multiple 6A state championships together, per this Alabama Fox affiliate.

There isn’t as much info in the public sphere about Bo’s mother, Krista. Per Celebseek, she is a nurse, proud mother, and devoted Christian. As you can see in the above Tweet, she’s not afraid to go to bat for her son when she feels he’s taking unnecessary or inappropriate criticism.

Patrick and Krista will undoubtedly be pulling for a Ducks victory on Saturday, but you can count on them being in their son Bo’s corner postgame, regardless of the outcome.
