Who Are Jaren Hall’s Parents? A Look at Kalin and Hollie Hall

Jaren Hall will make his second career start on Sunday Night Football. He's been helped every step of the way by his parents, Kalin and Hollie.

Jaren Hall is set to make his second career NFL start for the Minnesota Vikings as they square off with the Green Bay Packers in a crucial Sunday Night Football clash for both teams’ playoff hopes. Hall followed in the footsteps of his parents when he made a name for himself at Brigham Young University.

    Who Are Jaren Hall’s Parents?

Jaren grew up in Spanish Fork, Utah, and was born on March 24, 1998, to parents Kalin and Hollie Hall. Both of his parents attended BYU and were athletes at the university, paving the way for Jaren to do the same and eventually meet his own wife, Breanna, who attended Utah Valley University.

Kalin, his father, was a running back for BYU’s football team in the early 1990s. Kalin made 21 appearances for the Cougars across the 1992 and 1993 seasons, tallying up a combined 251 carries for 1,309 yards and 13 rushing touchdowns. He also caught 31 passes for 338 yards and two more scores.

Hollie, meanwhile, was also an athlete during her time at BYU as a gymnast. Hollie and Kalin met during their time at the school and ultimately married, eventually having Jaren follow in their athletic footsteps at the university.

The couple also have strong ties to the Mormon church. Each of their children, including Jaren, has served full-time missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jaren served his in Roseville, California.

Jaren followed in his parents’ footsteps as a standout athlete at BYU. He started 22 games for the Cougars across his final two seasons with the program, stepping up at quarterback after the departure of Zach Wilson.

Jaren completed 248 of 276 pass attempts for 31 touchdowns and just six interceptions. He added 86 carries for 350 yards and three more scores on the ground and caught two passes for 28 yards and one score.

Those exploits led to Jaren getting a shot at the NFL level.

He was drafted by the Vikings in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft and has since made two appearances for the franchise this season as a rookie. Heavy turnover at the position between a season-ending injury to Kirk Cousins and inconsistent play from Nick Mullens and Joshua Dobbs has opened a new opportunity for Hall.

Hall has been solid statistically in limited action this season. He is a combined 8 of 10 for 101 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions across two appearances, including one start.

Now, he will look to build on that and deliver a clutch performance as the Vikings aim to find their way into the playoffs.
