Jaguars vs. Falcons Game Preview
Only the Jaguars will play their starters in this preseason matchup.
Trevor Lawrence and company will get action for roughly a half before the Jaguars roll with the backups for the remainder of the game.
With the Jaguars starters in the game, rookie wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. will once again be a name to watch. In two games, he’s caught two passes for 55 yards.
While he’s only caught those two passes, both were very impressive. The first came downfield on an underthrown deep ball, and the other was an impressive route on a curl.
In terms of quarterback, Mac Jones has been the star of the show for the Jaguars. Through two games, he’s thrown for 308 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. His yardage is good for third-most in the NFL preseason. Additionally, his passer rating of 120.7 is the best in the league.
For the Falcons, neither Kirk Cousins nor Michael Penix Jr. will see any action. Instead, Taylor Heinicke will lead the way and get the majority of the playing time. In two games, he’s thrown for 125 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions.
Running back Jase McLellan is a key player to watch for Atlanta. The rookie is coming off of a strong performance against the Ravens in which he had 11 rushing attempts for 55 yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver Chris Blair also caught four passes for 91 yards.
