Which NFL Teams Play Tonight? Sunday Night Football Returns with an NFC East Showdown

Which NFL teams play tonight? Here's a look at the Sunday Night Football matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants.

The Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs kicked off the 2023 regular season with a riveting matchup Thursday Night, ending in a Lions upset. Which NFL teams play tonight in Week 1’s Sunday Night Football showdown?

The NFC East continues its primetime dominance as the Dallas Cowboys head to MetLife Stadium to take on the New York Giants in a Week 1 divisional showdown. Let’s look at the Week 1 Sunday Night Football matchup, including the start time, TV channel, and live stream options.

    Which NFL Teams Play Tonight?

The first of three Sunday Night Football games for the Cowboys and the first of two for the Giants. Every team in the NFC East enjoys quite a large market of fans, meaning the division is constantly on primetime games throughout the season. It feels only right one of the divisional battles gets the Sunday Night Football treatment in Week 1.

Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants

    • Start time
      8:20 p.m. ET
    • Channel
      NBC
    • Live stream options
      Peacock, FuboTV

The Cowboys will feature some new faces on offense. RB Ezekiel Elliott is with the New England Patriots, while WR Noah Brown and TE Dalton Schultz signed with the Houston Texans. While Elliott was not a factor in the passing game, his contributions to the run game will be missed. However, Schultz and Brown were Dallas’s second and third-leading receivers in 2022.

WR Michael Gallup missed some time at the beginning of last season due to a torn ACL suffered at the end of the 2021 season. While he didn’t look the same after the injury, an entire, healthy offseason should help him return to form. The addition of Brandin Cooks should ease the load on Gallup as well.

Speaking of Cooks, the Cowboys added the veteran receiver this offseason, sending a 2023 fifth-round pick and a 2024 sixth-round pick to the Texans in exchange for Cooks. This marks the fifth franchise Cooks will play for and the fourth time he has been traded, tying RB Eric Dickerson as the most traded player in NFL history. His speed and ability to extend to the field should help QB Dak Prescott find more explosive downfield plays, especially in Week 1, against a pair of Giants rookie cornerbacks.
