We’re halfway through the season, and by now, we know who the terrible NFL teams are. That includes both teams in tonight’s Thursday Night Football matchup between the Carolina Panthers and Chicago Bears — how lucky are we?
The Panthers and Bears are two of the four teams with two wins or less, and Carolina, along with the Arizona Cardinals, are the only one-win teams, tied for the worst in the NFL. But with nine weeks left to be played, which team will finish with the worst record? Let’s take a look at the betting odds.
NFL Worst Regular-Season Record Odds
The Cardinals are currently the betting favorite at FanDuel Sportsbook to finish with the worst regular-season record at +200. After the Cardinals, there is a two-way tie between the Panthers and New York Giants, followed by the Bears, New England Patriots, and Los Angeles Rams.
- Arizona Cardinals (+200)
- Carolina Panthers/New York Giants (+280)
- Chicago Bears (+550)
- New England Patriots (+1000)
- Los Angeles Rams (+2600)
Which Team Will Finish With the Worst Regular-Season Record?
Of the six betting favorites, the Giants have the hardest rest-of-season schedule, according to Tankathon, with half of their remaining games coming against the Philadelphia Eagles (twice), Dallas Cowboys, and New Orleans Saints — three projected playoff teams.
Not only do they have the most difficult schedule, but they also have perhaps the worst quarterback situation of this group at the moment. Daniel Jones is out for the season, and Tyrod Taylor might be as well, leaving them with undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito as QB1.
In two games this season, DeVito has a QBR of 8.2 — that’s out of 100. That includes when he filled in for an injured Taylor halfway through the second quarter against the New York Jets, in which he had negative net passing yards in two and a half quarters, plus overtime.
Not only does DeVito look extremely overwhelmed, but he also has a terrible offensive line and set of playmakers around him. As bad as the Cardinals, Panthers, Bears, and even the Patriots have looked in recent weeks, I like the Giants at +280 to finish with the worst record.

Arizona QB Kyler Murray’s return would scare me, and the Panthers have no incentive to lose, considering they owe their pick to Chicago. The Bears, meanwhile, with a healthy Justin Fields (who should be back soon), are the best team here.
