Where Did Breece Hall Go to College?

    Published on

Before taking the spotlight under the bright stars of New York, RB Breece Hall made a name for himself in mid-America. Where did he go to college?

Breece Hall has quickly risen to prominence in the NFL in his first two seasons. Hall was considered the top RB prospect in the 2022 NFL Draft and lasted just into the beginning of the 2nd round for the New York Jets to trade up and select the dynamic playmaker.

The versatile offensive weapon torched NFL defenses during his rookie season. The second-year sensation displayed every down capability as a runner, receiver, and blocker for the Jets. As a rookie, Hall totaled 681 total yards and had found the end zone in five of six games before a knee injury cut his season short, ending his Rookie of the Year bid abruptly.

What College Did Breece Hall Attend?

The Jets’ premier backfield option began a long and arduous rehab. The New York front office played it smart with the second-year back early in 2023, limiting his touches and working veteran free agent signee Dalvin Cook into the mix.

Talent wins out, though, and as Hall began to show fewer and fewer signs of rust, the Jets moved him back into the featured role.

Hall is now up to 632 yards and three touchdowns on the season. He ripped apart the Denver Broncos defense several weeks ago with 177 yards on 22 carries, announcing to the NFL that he was back. With no restrictions, the sky is the limit for the second-year RB in the second half of the 2023 season.

College football scouts and talent evaluators first began to take notice of Hall during his junior season at Wichita Northwest High School. The future Jet ran for over 2,000 yards his junior season (2,082 to be exact) to go along with 36 total touchdowns. Hall was named first-team all-state during his junior and senior seasons.

Iowa State came calling, and Hall took them up on their scholarship offer. It didn’t take long for him to establish himself as the top playmaker for the Cyclones.

David Montgomery entered the NFL Draft, freeing up a hole in Iowa State’s backfield. As a true freshman, Hall stepped right in and took the starting position.

The Cyclones freshman received Big 12 Newcomer of the Week in back-to-back weeks as he rushed for 315 yards and five touchdowns during the two weeks. Suffice it to say, the Big 12 was put on notice, as were NFL scouts seeing the prospect come to life early in his collegiate career.

The dynamic freshman finished the year with over 1,100 total yards and 10 touchdowns, receiving second-team All-Big 12 honors. Unfortunately for defenses, Hall was just getting started.

The Cyclones’ sensation took off during his sophomore campaign, rushing for over 100 yards in eight straight games to begin the season, on his way to leading college football in rushing with 1,572 yards while also finding the end zone 23 times.

The honors rolled in for Hall — first-team All-Big 12, Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, and the first unanimous All-American in Iowa State history.

The dynamic back had nothing left to show at the collegiate level but piled on during his junior season with 1,774 total yards and another 23 scores. Hall caused enough damage and was off to the NFL Draft.
