When Will WRs Perform the 40-Yard Dash at the 2024 NFL Combine?
The NFL Combine schedule is broken down by position group. Each day, the position groups rotate through medical examinations, measurements, interviews, and on-field workouts. Because of this, different players will run the 40-yard dash on different days.
The WRs will run the 40-yard dash on March 2 as part of the on-field workout portion of the NFL Combine. The complete schedule for the position group is below.
This year, the wide receivers will work out with the quarterbacks and running backs. They will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 27, with registration, team interviews, and orientation. Interviews and medical examinations will continue through March 1.
On March 2, measurements and on-field workouts begin for the WRs, QBs, and RBs. As part of those workouts, the players will go through drills on the field, do agility drills, and run the 40-yard dash.
Which WR Recorded the Fastest 40-Yard Dash Time in NFL Combine History?
Former Washington speedster John Ross holds both the wide receiver and overall NFL Combine records for the fastest 40-yard dash time. Ross ran a 4.22-second 40-yard dash in 2017.
Prior to Ross, Rondel Menendez ran a 4.24-second 40-yard dash in 1999. Neither player had stellar NFL careers, though Ross did spend five years in the league.
Tyreek Hill ran a 4.29-second 40-yard dash time at West Alabama’s Pro Day in 2016 and remains one of the fastest wide receivers in the NFL.
