Who Are the Top Players in the East-West Shrine Bowl Game?

Headlined by the quarterbacks and skill position players, the 2023 version of the East-West Shrine Bowl should be heralded for their roster construction. This year, the top players mostly align on the offensive side of the ball, but the defense certainly brings some star power.

The top players at the Shrine Bowl this year are headlined by these offensive players:

    • Zay Flowers, WR, Boston College
    • A.T. Perry, WR, Wake Forest
    • Ricky Stromberg, iOL, Arkansas
    • Carter Warren, OT, Pittsburgh
    • Jordan McFadden, OT, Clemson
    • Luke Schoonmaker, TE, Michigan
    • Tavion Thomas, RB, Utah
    • Bryce Ford-Wheaton, WR, West Virginia
    • Jaxson Kirkland, OT, Washington
    • Jadon Haselwood, WR, Arkansas

The quarterbacks are also an interesting bunch of high-ceiling and high-floor prospects. Among the group, a surprise entrance from several quarterbacks was announced in the Shrine Bowl’s roster reveal a week ahead of the game.

Tanner Morgan from Minnesota, Tim DeMorat from Fordham, and Tommy DeVito from Illinois each made their roster debuts despite no public announcement.

DeVito had a terrific season for the Illini and will look to earn his place among the top veteran signal-callers in the 2023 NFL Draft. DeMorat and Morgan each participated in the 2023 Hula Bowl from Orlando, doing enough to earn another look from NFL decision-makers.

Dorian Thompson-Robinson from UCLA and Aidan O’Connell from Purdue make up the rest of the quarterbacks on the roster. Thompson-Robinson and O’Connell had their highlight-reel moments in 2022 — both set multiple program records at their universities.
