When is the NFL trade deadline? With the midway point of the season rapidly approaching, here's the final day NFL franchises can make trades.

The NFL rolls into the eighth week of action as the league reaches the midway point of the 2022 season. While the Week 8 games have yet to kick off, franchises around the country also have their eyes on another date. The NFL trade deadline is just five days away. With plenty of rumors swirling, let’s look at what and when the trade deadline is.

NFL Trade Deadline Date in 2022

The NFL trade deadline for the 2022 season is Nov. 1. The trade deadline typically happens the Tuesday before the middle of the season. Given that the regular season runs for 18 weeks, this places the deadline on the Tuesday before Week 9 at 4 p.m. ET.

Latest NFL Trade Deadline News and Rumors

Some shocking moves have already been made well before the deadline. First and foremost was the blockbuster deal between the San Francisco 49ers and Carolina Panthers for First-team All-Pro running back Christian McCaffery on October 20.

The Panthers add three 2023 draft picks and an additional selection in 2024 to kickstart an inevitable rebuild. Meanwhile, the 49ers bolster a talented roster with a top-tier RB, and McCaffery gets a chance to compete for a Lombardi trophy.

New York Jets Find a Replacement After Losing Their Rookie RB

The next significant move came Monday after the New York Jets announced that rookie RB Breece Hall tore his ACL and would miss the remainder of the season. In response, the Jets sent a 2023 sixth-round pick that could become a fifth-round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars for RB James Robinson. It had become evident that Travis Etienne Jr. had taken over the starting role in Duval, and now Robinson gets the chance to be a bell cow in Hall’s absence.

The Philadelphia Eagles Strengthen Case As the Best Team in the NFC

The action continued with big names on Wednesday when the Philadelphia Eagles acquired Pro Bowl defensive end Robert Quinn from the Chicago Bears for a 2023 fourth-round pick. Given that Philadelphia blitzes on just 22.8% of dropbacks, gaining an experienced and proven rusher for so little only strengthens the Eagles’ path to the Super Bowl.

The New York Giants Send Kadarius Toney to Kansas City

The Chiefs acquired some help for Patrick Mahones by trading for former first-round pick Kadarius Toney. Toney has been limited to just 35 snaps in 2022 but can be a dangerous weapon for Andy Reid if he can stay on the field. The Chiefs sent the Giants third- and sixth-round picks in 2023 in exchange for the young wide receiver.

With five days remaining until the Nov. 1, 4 p.m. ET deadline, stay tuned to Pro Football Network for the latest news and rumors from around the league. With plenty of franchises attempting to make postseason pushes with the current logjam in the NFL standings, 2022 might be one of the more active NFL trade deadlines in a while.
