Football fans already locked into HBO because of Hard Knocks are being gifted another gridiron documentary of high intrigue on Wednesday. But this time, it’s a story from two years ago that didn’t take long to receive its own feature: The Bishop Sycamore High School scandal.
When Does ‘BS High’ Premiere? HBO’s Start Time
HBO Original Films dives into the world of high school football and a story that rocked the nation in its next documentary, “BS High,” set to air at 9 p.m. ET on Wednesday night. Not only will the doc be shown on HBO’s cable network, but it will also be available on its streaming service named Max.
The show plans to dive into the infamous Aug. 29, 2021, high school football contest pitting nationally known powerhouse IMG Academy of Florida vs. a little-known Ohio school called Bishop Sycamore — a school with a head coach claiming he had prized national recruits on the roster.
What happened after the 58-0 IMG win was one controversy after another.
What Does Documentary Plan To Air?
Former Bishop Sycamore head coach Roy Johnson is an interview subject in the show.
Johnson was accused of becoming a con man along with being head coach of the Centurions. The show will more than likely detail the 30 lawsuits filed against him and how his program fabricated that the school was like an IMG Academy for Ohio.
The film additionally plans to interview Mike Moline and Anthony Marling — two team videographers who claim they were only given $60 over a six-month period from Johnson.
It’s not known which players will be on camera detailing their accounts about their experiences with Johnson and Bishop Sycamore. However, there were reports players had to take out loans with the Paycheck Protection Program to have some kind of income.
Following the 58-point loss, Bishop Sycamore closed down, and players were left trying to find their next stop. But the story sparked a nationwide conversation about scam artists in the world of prep football.
