The talented Las Vegas Raiders WR duo of Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers combined for one reception for 11 yards through the first three quarters of action against the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football. Should fantasy football managers be hitting the panic button on the Raiders offense for the rest of the 2023 NFL season?
Davante Adams’ Rest-of-Season Fantasy Value
If Adams was experiencing any frustration after his two receptions for 29 yards in a winning effort against the New England Patriots a couple weeks ago… I’m curious how he is going to feel after this outing in a prime-time game.
Heading into the Monday night matchup, Adams failed to top 60 yards receiving or find the end zone in three consecutive weeks. Somehow, the fact Jakobi Meyers has scored in every game during that same three-game stretch makes all of this just a little bit worse for Adams.
Then, for the icing on the cake, Garoppolo missed multiple huge shots down the field for potential scores to a wide-open Adams against the Lions in the fourth quarter.
Look, Adams is still an excellent receiver, but his fantasy outlook on a weekly basis feels like he should be dropped into the WR2 conversation until the Raiders’ passing offense begins to show a bit more consistency.
Jakobi Meyers’ Rest-of-Season Fantasy Value
Oddly enough, the most consistent producer in the Raiders’ passing game this season has been Meyers.
Prior to the game in Week 8, Meyers’ only fantasy performance with fewer than 15 fantasy points in PPR formats came back in Week 4. His five receiving touchdowns leads the team, which has made Meyers one of the biggest fantasy surprises of the season.

However, if Garoppolo continues to play as poorly as he did against the Lions on Monday Night Football in the coming weeks, we shouldn’t be all that surprised if the team turns to Aidan O’Connell at some point this season.
If a rookie quarterback ends up taking the reins in this offense, it would likely drop both Meyers and Adams down into the low-end WR2 range in the weekly fantasy rankings.
What Raiders Players Can You Trust in Your Fantasy Lineup?
The lack of consistency in this Raiders offense has certainly been linked to the struggles of Josh Jacobs on the ground through the first eight games of the season. Jacobs’ efficiency has dropped from 4.86 yards per carry (ypc) last season, to below 3.0 ypc through the two months of action in 2023.
Jacobs is still in the low-end RB1 conversation on pure volume alone, but I personally have him just inside my top 15 at the position because of the struggles of the offense and his drop in efficiency.
In dynasty, I would seriously consider cutting your losses on Garoppolo while you can. If he continues to play like he did on Monday Night Football in the near future, he will be in danger of losing his starting job before the end of this season.
