The Dallas Cowboys are 9-3 heading into Week 14 and fighting for the NFC East divisional lead. A big reason why has been their offense and CeeDee Lamb, who has been one of the best receivers in the NFL.
He goes by CeeDee, but that actually isn’t his real name. So what is it?
What Is CeeDee Lamb’s Real Name?
Lamb was born on April 8, 1999. His real name is Cedarian DeLeon Lamb. He was born in Opelousas, Louisiana, and lived in New Orleans until his family evacuated to Houston, Texas, following Hurricane Katrina.
“I got it from a peewee coach I played with,” said Lamb, when asked about his nickname. “He was like, ‘What’s your name?’ And I was like, ‘Cedarian,’ and he’s like, ‘We’re gonna have to come up with a nickname by the end of the practice.’ Practice goes on, we’re running gassers now at the end of practice, he’s like, ‘CeeDee.'”
Lamb attended John and Randolph Foster High School in Richmond, Texas. In his junior and senior seasons, Lamb caught 155 passes for 3,114 yards and 44 touchdowns. He also returned three punts for touchdowns.
Following his high school career, Lamb was a four-star recruit according to 247Sports. He committed to and played for the Oklahoma Sooners. In three seasons with Oklahoma, he caught 173 passes for 3,292 yards and 32 touchdowns. He was first-team All-Big 12 and a consensus All-American in 2019.

Lamb was drafted with the 17th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. In his four seasons with Dallas, he has caught 350 passes for 4,578 yards and 27 touchdowns. In 2023 alone, he has 90 receptions for 1,182 yards and seven touchdowns.
With their 9-3 record, the Cowboys are only one game back from the NFC-leading Philadelphia Eagles. The two will face off in Week 14, with the winner taking the lead in the NFC East. The Eagles head into the week at 10-2, with their only two losses coming against the New York Jets and the San Francisco 49ers.
Thanks to QB Dak Prescott and Lamb, the Cowboys are in position for one of their strongest seasons in recent memory. Additionally, Prescott is on a potential MVP run in 2023.
