    Latest Darius Slayton Injury Update

After leaving the Week 6 game earlier on the same drive, Slayton returned and drew an incredibly important pass interference penalty that allowed the Giants to score their first touchdown of the game.

Slayton appeared to land on his head and entered the blue medical tent on New York’s sideline following the fall. According to Dan Salomone of Giants.com, Slayton was evaluated for a concussion and cleared to return on Sunday night.

Slayton finished Sunday’s game with 6 receptions for 57 yards on 11 targets, all tied for the team high. Without Nabers, Slayton garnered 11 targets in back-to-back games and has totaled 14 catches for 179 yards and a score.

However, he appeared on the Week 7 injury report with a groin injury, practicing in limited fashion all week. The good news is that he did not appear on the final injury report and is good to go.

    Darius Slayton’s Fantasy Outlook

New York’s passing attack is a totally different animal with Malik Nabers back in the lineup. Nabers cleared concussion protocol on Thursday and was not listed with any designation on the final injury report.

Nabers’ return eliminates any value for Slayton. We know that the wide receiver position doesn’t usually handcuff quite like the running back position. If a receiver gets hurt, the entire target hierarchy usually adjusts. But in the case of the Giants, Slayton walked right into a poor man’s version of the Nabers role.

In Weeks 1-4, Slayton was targeted on 15 of 135 routes. But with Nabers sidelined, he saw 22 targets on 80 routes, totaling 14 catches for 179 yards and a touchdown. And his stat line could have been even bigger if not for a defensive pass interference in the end zone last week.

With Nabers active, Slayton will sit outside of my top 40 without much question, and he’s a drop.
