The Tampa Bay Buccaneers can get back in the NFC South race with a win over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 14, but any potential path would become all the more difficult without wideout Chris Godwin, who went down with an injury on Sunday. What happened to Godwin, and what’s his current injury status?
Chris Godwin Injury Update
Godwin appeared to be injured after failing to haul in a pass from Baker Mayfield on a 3rd-and-6 early in the third quarter.
While Godwin was able to leave the field under his own power, he was noticeably limping as he headed toward the Buccaneers’ sideline.
Fortunately, Godwin returned for Tampa Bay’s next offensive drive, so the Buccaneers appear to have averted disaster.

While Godwin looked like Tampa Bay’s co-WR1 entering this season, he’s been outplayed by Mike Evans, who had already posted 61 catches for 1,012 yards and 10 touchdowns heading into Week 14.
Godwin, 27, entered Sunday’s game with a 53-606-1 line. He’s managed only 1.51 yards per route run, 54th in the NFL and the lowest mark of Godwin’s career.
What Would the Bucs’ Offense Look Like Without Godwin?
Godwin’s usage in the Bucs’ passing attack has recently been frustrating for fantasy managers. In Week 13, he failed to catch a single pass in a game for the first time since 2018.
If Godwin were ever to miss time, look for Deven Thompkins, Trey Palmer, and TE Cade Otton to see an expanded role in Tampa Bay’s passing game.
