What Cincinnati Bengals WR Tee Higgins Said About Playing Sunday vs. Seattle

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins said it's looking promising he'll play Sunday vs. Seattle, but it's still too early to know for sure.

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins said he isn’t sure if he’ll play Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks but said “it’s looking promising.”

Higgins fractured a rib in the Oct. 1 loss at Tennessee and sat out last week’s win at Arizona. He practiced on a limited basis on Wednesday and Thursday, and he said the pain of playing through the injury is going to be with him for a while.

From the current NFL standings to team depth charts to coverage of every game in the 18-week NFL schedule, we have all the news from around the league to keep you up to speed!

Will Tee Higgins Play Sunday vs. Seattle?

“It’s really just tolerating the pain, but it’s gonna be like this probably for the rest of the season until I can heal up for months,” Higgins said. “It is what it is. I’m here to win.”

Head coach Zac Taylor said Monday it was his call not to play Higgins, but the receiver — if the decision was left up to him — would have made the same choice as he was still dealing with a lot of pain in everyday aspects, not just on the field.

“I feel like I could have played last week, but it’s all about restin’ and lettin’ it heal up first before you get back in that action,” he said. “Obviously, I want to be out there competing with my teammates and help my team get a win.”

“But man, you get to a certain point where my body is my temple. My body is what’s makin’ me money,” he continued. “So you’ve got to treat your body like you would treat anything else that’s very important. My body is very important, especially with this game. I decided to take a week off, and I’ll see if I can go back at it this week.”

The money comment was an interesting one, as Higgins is in the final year of his contract after failing to agree on an extension this offseason.

But he said he doesn’t feel any rush to get back simply to add stats to his bargaining power next offseason.

“I don’t feel no pressure at all,” Higgins said. “At the end of the day, I just want to help this team win, help this organization win.”

Higgins has not been wearing a flak jacket while practicing this week and doesn’t intend to wear one in the game.

“I feel like that’s gonna restrict me,” he said. “I feel like I should just play. It’s football. You get hit. Suck it up and keep playing. The adrenaline is going to be pumping, and if you get hit, it might sting a little bit, but that’s it. I’ll pop back up ready to go.”
