What to expect from the Dolphins vs. Jaguars
For the second time this year, the NFL will travel to London to play at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. After we watched the Falcons defeat the Jets last week, London fans will now get to witness a battle of first-round QBs when Tua Tagovailoa takes on Trevor Lawrence.
Lawrence will be looking to not only be the first rookie QB to win a game in London but also to get his first NFL win, in general. Meanwhile, Tua is returning after an injury sidelined him the last few weeks and is looking to get the Dolphins back into the win column.
Let’s be honest here. London fans got the short end of the stick with these two International Series games. The Dolphins vs. the Jaguars is not all that enticing, especially considering the state of these two franchises. Jacksonville has played the “easier” part of their schedule through five weeks, and Urban Meyer has yet to get his first NFL win.
Things will only be tougher after this NFL London game. Miami, on the other hand, had legitimate playoff aspirations when the year started. Now, it looks like Brian Flores’ rebuild has taken a severe swerve into a ditch. Will he even be the head coach when this team returns from overseas?
Can Tua do enough with the weapons he has?
With a combined one win between the two teams, someone will head into their bye with a little bit of hope. If I needed to pick which team that would be, my lean would be the Jaguars. Miami’s success last year was heavily reliant on a defense that was playing lights out and producing nearly record numbers of turnovers. That defense is nowhere to be found, highlighted by a 45-17 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last weekend.
“We’re out of sync in a lot of ways. Run defense, pass defense, pass rush. We’re a little bit of a step behind, I would say. We’ve got to make a lot of corrections. [There’s] a lot of things we need to address, and we’ll do that. We’ve been doing that. We’ve addressed some things, but we’re not seeing the production on Sundays. Really, that’s all that matters.”
When Flores openly admits that his team is a step behind, that should light up some warning signs. That, and the fact that Xavien Howard is out for this game, makes me think this defense will struggle mightily — even if it is against a struggling Jaguars offense.
This is Jacksonville’s Super Bowl. They don’t have many other wins left on their schedule, and they will want to get a win in front of the “home” crowd in London.
NFL London Game Prediction: Jaguars 24, Dolphins 17
Where is the NFL game in London played?
The NFL will be playing their game today in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium located in North London. The stadium is usually the home of the Premier League club Tottenham Hotspurs. It is the third-largest football stadium in England and the largest club stadium in London.
Although Wembley Stadium was the exclusive home stadium for International Series games from 2007 to 2015, Tottenham was added in 2019. The International Series has also played at the Twickenham Stadium in London (2016–17) and the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City (2016–17, 2019).
