The NFL has entered a new era of watching regular-season games the last two seasons, one that involves some games requiring fans to pivot to streaming channels.
Last year, Amazon Prime got into the NFL picture for fans. Now, it’s Peacock taking advantage of the streaming era.
What Is the Peacock Channel?
Peacock was launched on July 15, 2020, by NBC Universal.
The NBC network made its decision to dip into the ever-evolving internet television realm. The available service allowed viewers to watch popular network shows like Law and Order and past network hits like The Office.
However, Peacock is not limited to just past NBC hit shows fans can watch and rewatch. Peacock offered films and other shows from its family networks of USA and Hallmark.
Now, NBC Sports is an option on Peacock. The service has aired “The Dan Patrick Show” with the longtime sports radio personality as well as “PFT Live” with NFL insider Mike Florio. Even World Wrestling Entertainment programming as well as the Kentucky Derby, were offered via Peacock.
Only this time, Saturday’s Dec. 23 NFL action is offered exclusively for Peacock — which will signify a spike in new subscribers ahead of Christmas.
What NFL Games Are Airing on Peacock?
Peacock was blessed with two critical AFC contests that involved some playoff implications for all four teams.
The games the service is broadcasting are:
- Cincinnati Bengals at Pittsburgh Steelers, 4:30 p.m. ET
- Buffalo Bills at Los Angeles Chargers, 8 p.m. ET

Peacock also has the NBC Football Night in America crew helping preview both games. Only this time, Maria Taylor won’t be hosting as she is on maternity leave. Ahmed Fareed is her replacement for the Saturday pregame show and the rest of NBC’s coverage of the NFL.
How Can Fans Purchase Peacock?
Fans will have two options for Peacock services.
Peacock Premium is offered to fans for as low as $5.99 per month. And that offer can be canceled anytime.
But then there’s Peacock Premium Plus, which offers an ad-free approach and a download option to watch movies or shows on a mobile device. That package is $11.99 a month. Peacock Premium Plus also gives fans the choice to watch local NBC television live.
Peacock is available for purchase on the following options: Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, and Apple TV, and can be watched on a personal computer and laptop. Or even a game console like PlayStation or Xbox.
Saturday will be the only time Peacock will air the only NFL action of the day.
