It’s almost over! We’re so close to the end of the fantasy football season that you can almost taste it. If you’re still playing, good for you! But if not, now’s the time to start evaluating your roster for holes and see who you can target in trades this offseason. Let’s take a look at my Week 16 fantasy dynasty rankings and see who moved this week.
Week 16 Fantasy Dynasty Rankings | Risers
QB – Lamar Jackson +3, Jalen Hurts +14
Okay, I’ve seen enough. Lamar is still Lamar. I had been moving him down due to his uncertainty, but it looks like that might have been premature. He still has issues that need correcting, but Lamar is definitely still a top-three QB in dynasty formats.
The other major riser in my Week 16 dynasty fantasy rankings is Jalen Hurts. Hurts didn’t rise previously because I wanted to see how he looked and see if the team trusted him. Well, he looks great and the team seems to trust him. He’s up 14 spots to QB19 with plenty of room to move as he shows us more proof.
RB – Jonathan Taylor +2, D’Andre Swift +2
Jonathan Taylor is the first of two rookies I’m highlighting in my Week 16 dynasty fantasy rankings. He’s clearly the lead back on his team now and has really started hitting his stride in the last few weeks. He’s my RB5 in dynasty now, and I have no regrets.
The other RB riser is also a rookie: D’Andre Swift. Like Taylor, Swift has taken over the lead back role on his own team and is starting to find lanes he previously struggled to see. Swift can be a league winner and will only see his value increase from here if he keeps it up.
WR – Allen Robinson +2, CeeDee Lamb +2
Allen Robinson moves back into WR1 territory in my Week 16 dynasty fantasy rankings at WR11. He’s just solid. Robinson has looked terrific on a fairly inconsistent offense. If they change coaches, or Robinson changes teams, he could easily be the next Tier One WR in dynasty.
Rookie CeeDee Lamb hasn’t had a very even season. He’s faced challenges with Dak Prescott being hurt and missing out on building that rapport. Lamb’s talent puts him at WR12 for me though. He’s shown flashes of it this season, and I fully anticipate him being Dak’s favorite target going forward.
TE – Irv Smith, Jr. +1
My lone riser at the tight end position this week is Irv Smith Jr. of the Minnesota Vikings. He only goes up one spot, and it’s more due to the fall of the other guy, but Smith is in line for a lot of attention in Minnesota. With Justin Jefferson being the main attraction, I see Smith being a great secondary option for Kirk Cousins next year and beyond.
Week 16 Fantasy Dynasty Rankings | Fallers
QB – Russell Wilson -2, Ryan Tannehill -1
I’m not sure if Russell Wilson just hates the cold or what, but he’s been struggling as the season’s gone along. His ceiling is still very high, but his floor is lower than previously expected. If Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf struggle, it’s Wilson’s fault. He’s still a stud QB, but he has to fall slightly with the new information we’ve gotten.
It was tough to lower Ryan Tannehill in my Week 16 dynasty fantasy rankings after he had such a good week. Tannehill won’t get two rushing touchdowns every week though. The offense still flows through him, and he’s still a good QB, but in dynasty, he still feels a little risky to me.
RB – Miles Sanders -2, Josh Jacobs -2
In a strange twist of parity, the two fallers are both sophomore running backs while the two risers are rookies. Both fell the same amount and are in the same range. Miles Sanders falls to RB12 due to his team seemingly forgetting he’s there, and Josh Jacobs falls to RB10 due to injury and QB uncertainty.
Both players could easily rise again between now and Week 1 of 2021, but it’s likely going to take some changes on the sidelines for Sanders and some fresh talent under center for Jacobs. Both have a lot of potential and could be considered buy-low targets though, which is something you can use if you’re still able to trade.
WR – Michael Thomas -2, Amari Cooper -2
Michael Thomas has had one of the worst seasons any wide receiver can have in dynasty. He’s suffered injuries as well as quarterback issues and has even been a distraction off the field as well. His future is as much in his own hands as it is his quarterback. If Drew Brees doesn’t come back, his value takes a slight tumble for me.
When I raised Lamb I had to lower his teammate Amari Cooper. Cooper just hasn’t looked that great this season and hasn’t been the top target on the Cowboys that many expected. Sure, the offense has been very different, but if Dak and Ezekiel Elliott stay, he might be the odd man out. With Lamb’s surge, it makes Cooper less vital, at least for now. Tread lightly.
TE – Jonnu Smith -1
The lone faller in my Week 16 dynasty fantasy rankings is Jonnu Smith. He’s just been too quiet to ignore, which kind of sounds counterintuitive. He hasn’t been very dominant, but the position doesn’t have many players that are. He’s lost in the mess of the back-end TE1 group, right where he belongs, I guess.
