Over a week has passed since the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59. It was a highly anticipated matchup between two of the best teams in the NFL. And there was pride on the line following Philadelphia’s loss to the Chiefs in Super Bowl 57 a few seasons back.
Many expected a close game between these squads. However, the game played out far from anything anyone could have imagined. The Eagles dominated Kansas City the entire game. Their defense kept Patrick Mahomes at bay while their offense piled on the points.
In the end, the Eagles were crowned Super Bowl champions. It’s their second Super Bowl victory in franchise history. And it’s a moment players will certainly never forget.

Eagles Players React to Winning Super Bowl 59 Over Chiefs
As one can imagine, winning the Super Bowl is something all football players strive to do. They work their entire careers to reach that point. Realizing that dream is one of the most special moments for any athlete. Thankfully, we can see this realization in real-time thanks to a compilation put together by NFL films.

The Eagles were a dominant force in the NFL all season long. Philadelphia had the eighth-most yards per game, according to ESPN, en route to a No. 14 finish in PFSN’s Offense+ metric. This goes along with their having scored the seventh-most points per game.
The true star of the show in Philadelphia, however, was the defense. No team in the NFL allowed fewer yards per game in 2024 than the Eagles. Only the Los Angeles Chargers allowed fewer points per game (17.7) than the Super Bowl 59 champions (17.8) as well. They also finished No. 2 in PFSN’s Defense+ metric, behind only the Denver Broncos.
Philadelphia’s defense was led, in part, by a couple of rookies. Cooper DeJean was a second-round pick by the Eagles in the 2024 NFL Draft. He made one of the biggest plays of the Super Bowl, picking off Patrick Mahomes and returning it for a touchdown to bring the score to 17-0 in a 44-20 win.
The Eagles’ first-round pick, Quinyon Mitchell, also stood out. The Toledo product made massive plays all season long. And he showed up big in the postseason for his team.
The Eagles had their work cut out for them. The Chiefs were seeking their third straight Super Bowl championship. Had they been successful, it would have been the first time in league history a team had won three straight Super Bowls.

Kansas City had a fantastic season in its own right as well. They boasted one of the best defenses in the NFL. They were ninth in yards allowed per game and fourth in points allowed per game, part of why Kansas City went 15-2 during the regular season. However, there were cracks in the armor.
The Chiefs were not as dynamic offensively as they have been in the past. Mahomes threw for fewer than 4,000 yards in 2024 for the first time in his career.
Kansas City earned its spot in the Super Bowl. Unfortunately for Chiefs fans, K.C. couldn’t match up with Philly. The Lombardi Trophy will stay in the City of Brotherly Love for at least this upcoming year.
