Michael Penix Jr. just gave us a proposal straight out of James Arthur’s “Falling Like the Stars” song. The Atlanta Falcons quarterback surprised his girlfriend, Olivia Carter, with a romantic engagement proposal that felt like it was literally written in the stars.
It was one of those moments where love falls effortlessly into place, and fans are swooning. Swooning like there’s no tomorrow.

Fresh off his stellar NFL debut, Penix decided to drop a bombshell of his own: he’s getting married! Yep, Penix went full romantic hero, surprising his girlfriend, Carter, with an unforgettable proposal.
Picture this: a fire pit surrounded by dozens of red roses, with big bold block letters that screamed: “MARRY ME.” Talk about setting the stage for the most epic question of the year.

And if you’re wondering, this was no last-minute, “Hey, you wanna get married?” moment. The proposal came just two days after Penix led the Falcons to a 34-7 win over the New York Giants in his first-ever NFL start. A win on-field, and a win off of it? Yes, he’s on fire.
Carter, who graduated with a degree in biology from the University of Nevada, Reno, was totally caught off guard — her IG post, captioned “the sweetest love ❤️ Olivia and Michael 12.24.2024,” said it all. This proposal was a grand slam, indeed.
So as Penix gears up to face the Washington Commanders in Week 17, it’s clear that while his career’s just taking off, his love life’s already hit it out of the park. And we’re here for it.
Should You Start or Sit Penix in Fantasy in Week 17?
After an impressive debut against the Giants, Penix has NFL fantasy football managers wondering if they should start or sit him in Week 17. While Penix showed promise, completing two-thirds of his passes in a 34-7 win, he’s still not quite at the fantasy-production level you can rely on just yet.
However, he’s got a favorable matchup against the Commanders, a defense that ranks inside the bottom seven in both red-zone efficiency and YAC allowed.
Penix’s weapons also help his case.
On the ground, Bijan Robinson is a legitimate threat with over 1,000 yards, backed by Tyler Allgeier and tight end Charlie Woerner.
Through the air, Penix has emerging star Drake London, who’s setting career highs in touchdowns and closing in on his first 1,000-yard season. This bodes well for Penix to keep the Falcons’ playmakers involved and keep the offense moving.
While not a sure-fire fantasy starter yet, Penix could still provide solid production in Week 17. Keep an eye on him if you’re looking for a sleeper QB in deeper leagues.
