WATCH: Dan Campbell Stars in Hilarious New Applebee’s Commercial

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell stars in an Applebee's commercial, showcasing his unique personality and acting skills.

Ever since Dan Campbell became head coach of the Detroit Lions in 2021, he has taken the Motor City by storm. Having developed smashmouth trench play and a kneecap-biting persona, the Lions aspire to reach the Super Bowl each year, especially following their NFC Championship Game appearance in 2023. Campbell is undoubtedly the driving force behind the team’s impressive ascent.

The HBO show “Hard Knocks” offered a glimpse into his vibrant personality in 2022, but this commercial is an extended showcase of his talents. However, the creative behind the ad keeps it grounded in the world of football.

Dan Campbell Showcases His Acting Skills in Applebee’s Commercial

Applebee’s recently released a hilarious commercial featuring the Lions’ coffee-loving head honcho. The ad highlights Campbell’s unique personality and acting skills.

In the commercial, Campbell appears as a waiter while still sporting his coaching attire. When two teenagers call out their order, Campbell responds in his characteristically humorous manner, “Cover your mouth. They could steal your order,” as he covers his own mouth to emphasize the importance of secrecy.

The teenagers are as shocked as the audience by his response as they order their food — 50-cent chicken wings — while keeping their mouths covered. Although Campbell accepts the order, he quips, “Perfect. They’ll never see it coming.”

Something we will see coming is the Lions kicking off their new season on Sept. 7 against the Los Angeles Rams. Perhaps Campbell will spend that early Week 5 bye at his local Applebee’s and give those wings a try, but the work comes first. Detroit will welcome its mixed feelings for the Rams to Ford Field. Why the mixed feelings? The quarterback trade, of course.

Matthew Stafford spent the first 12 years of his NFL career in Detroit, only to be traded to the Rams and win a Super Bowl in his first year away from the Motor City. Jared Goff, meanwhile, has resurrected his career in Detroit and had the Lions within a few plays of making their first-ever Super Bowl in 2023.
