Washington vs. Panthers prediction, pick, odds, and how to watch the Week 11 game

What is our prediction for the Washington vs. Panthers Week 11 matchup, what channel is the game on, and what are the betting odds?

One huge X-factor in the shape of Cam Newton makes this Washington Football Team vs. Carolina Panthers matchup a tough one to make a prediction for. With Newton potentially set to return as the starter for Carolina this week, let’s take a look at the current NFL odds, make a prediction for the outcome, and look at what channel/station you can watch/listen to this Washington at Panthers clash.

Washington Football Team vs. Carolina Panthers prediction and odds | Week 11

    • Spread: Panthers -3.5 (Odds from DraftKings sportsbook)
    • Moneyline: Washington +150, Panthers -170
    • Over/Under: 43

It has been a roller coaster of a season for the Panthers, and their record against the spread (ATS) demonstrates that. They are 5-5 overall, covering the spread in their first three, failing to cover in four straight, and then covering two of the last three. Carolina has not covered at home since Week 2, and they have failed to cover their last two as favorites. However, the Newton factor changes all of that in Week 11.

Washington’s season has also been a roller coaster, at least in terms of their record. However, when we look at their ATS record, they have struggled. They are 2-7 overall ATS and 1-5 as underdogs in 2021. On the road, Washington is just 1-3, and 0-3 ATS as road dogs.

All of this would suggest that the lean has to be towards the Panthers both winning and covering. However, the factor of Newton against his former coach Ron Rivera throws all of this to a new level. While Joe Brady and Matt Rhule will have new plays for Newton to run, no one knows his tendencies better than Rivera. If Newton has any tells in his game, Rivera will likely know them and have told his players.

    Washington vs. Panthers prediction

What looked like a season tailing into obscurity for Washington suddenly has hope after their upset victory over the Buccaneers. However, that win only means something if they go and back it up against another potential NFC Playoff contender.

This will be a tough assignment for the Washington defense, as they have to prepare for both P.J. Walker and Newton this week. The contrast in their skill sets makes this especially tough. However, the Washington defense showed significant improvement last week against the Buccaneers and will be desperate to carry that momentum into Week 11.

For the Panthers, the game against the Cardinals will have been a huge boost. After winning just one game in their last six, the Panthers were seeing their playoff chances slide away. Instead, they own the seventh seed, with a huge potential impact factor with the addition of Newton.

What we don’t know is whether last week was a one-off from the Washington defense or a change in tide. Until we see more consistency, we have to assume the Panthers will move the ball on them. In contrast, the Panthers’ defense has generally been superb this year. They now potentially have the offense to back up that defense.
